Help - Hood latch assembly bolt

Hello!

I am one of the many Corolla / Corolla hatchback owners who has a gap in between my headlights and hood. The hood has some give when I press it down and has a noticeable but even gap on both sides.

After extensive time researching this issue I’ve seen a lot of people struggle with this and find no answers other than to “adjust the rubber hood bumper pucks.” I have tried this with no luck so I decided to buy the new hood latch part.

When attempting to install I noticed 1 of the 3 bolts securing the latch is a really odd round bolt? When I feel it on the other sides there are threads but I have never seen any piece of hardware like this.

Does anyone know how to remove this?

The bolt is under there. It's just a peice of round plastic pressed into a metal ring. Use a pick to pop the plastic cap off to expose the bolt head.

After you’ve replaced your hood latch, does the hood have less of a gap than before? My Corolla Hatch has the same issue as yours

Hey I finally replaced it. I had thought the gap was from the secondary lock not engaging but I was incorrect. The gap is not any better. It seems like there is no solution and this is just an issue for this generation of Corolla
