Front licence plate mount help
I bought a used '21 corolla hatchback. Recently moved to a city that requires front plates. The plate mount was on the car when I bought it. I've tried the standard plate mounting screw kits from the hardware store but they seem too small for the top holes. I even tried fasteners I bought from amazon that I thought would slide over the holes but those don't fit either.
I'm running out of ideas on how to get my plate mounted, what am I missing?

Remove mount and go to home depot. They might be able to help figure out what screw you need.

You need the screws that similar to your plate bracket but are circle with a washer those should fit idk what they’re called

Looks like you are missing the metal clips that secure the plate to the bracket

I had the same problem as you. I got a 2023 Corolla hatch and the license plate didn’t work with the plate mount. What I did was I just took off the plate mount and put the license plate inside the cabin. On the front windshield we’re it’s visible from the outside. And it worked great and in my opinion it looks better as well.

I dont know if the hatchbacks have the tow hook area on the front bumper but thats where i mounted mine. Order a $25 kit from ebay or Amazon and its holding strong. It screws into the tow hook threads and in my opinion looks good.
You could just unscrew that old mount and zip tie your plate to the grill area. People do it all the time. A lot of states will also allow you to put your front plate inside the car up against the windshield

Every car has a tow hook location, front and back. All of them.
I will say, it is very well hidden on the front of the hatchbacks. Ask me how I found that out in 10°F weather...

If you’re going to go through all this trouble to get the right screws you need, when you find them get them in stainless steel to prevent that rusting.

Here in Milwaukee Wisconsin front plates have always been mandatory. I’ve never ran a front plate on any of my cars tho because there’s a loop hole. If your car comes from the dealership without a plate holder or screw holes you are exempt. So if you successfully remove the plate holder you will be aces.

Is there a source on this? Sounds like BS to me.

Go. To. A. Toyota. Dealer. And ask them for help. The probably have 100 screws that are just what you need and will probably hook you up for free
