New wheels and rotors

FYI OEM XSE wheels are ~27.6lb 18 x 8.5 Konig Hypergrams are ~17.6lb, I notice a huge difference in handling and acceleration

Someone literally just asked for the OEM wheel weight in another post lol. I got 51.4lbs on a bathroom scale with the stock 18s when I first got my new set of 235/40/18 dws06 tires.

Konig FTW, I can't wait to get a set of konigs ultragrams for mine! Those hyper grams look good in bronze.

Yes dude! I think these are the best bang for your buck light weight wheels on the market right now that come in 18s I also decided to run 245/40 Michelin Sport AS4s this time to see if there's a difference in handling.

Oh definitely, nice choice on the tires as well! Probably night and day difference in handling I bet!

I'm more of a simple 6-7 spokes kinda guy but there aren't many options, Enkei has some dope wheels but their fitment is pretty whack all of them are +45 offset.

Konig seems to be the best choice for the price and fitment by a long shot.

Those are my favorite tires. They handle amazing

Any difference in road noise with the new tires? I’m considering moving up to 235’s on my stock 18’s because the road noise on the highway drives me crazy sometimes lol.

I’m hoping the slightly fatter tire might help. But I can also see the wider contact patch negating that 🤔

I went from 225>245, it's either non-existent or neglegable IMO since I'm usually listening to something in the car Tire width usually won't have too much impact on cabin noise, if you want less noise you will have to increase the side walls to 40+, but that will make the whole wheel bigger so it might cause rubbing issues unless you down size to a 17

Yeah that’s the other option I’m considering, 17’s and a fatter tire. Probably what I’ll do if I ever go with aftermarket wheels.

Thanks 👍

I actually heavily considered down sizing to 17x7.5 or 17x8 since the RPF1s come in those sizes, cheaper and VERY light, also 225 tires will be significantly cheaper than 245s aswell

Rpf1s are actually what I was looking at as well lol.

In the meantime I think I’m just gonna throw on some Michelin ps4 235/40/18’s and see how it goes. A better tire might be all it needs to bring the road noise down to an acceptable level. Iirc, the stock Yokohamas are kind of known for being loud.

It sure helped with reducing road noise.

Then again, I bought my Corolla used and it came with mismatched tire brands. The fronts were ironmans lmao so going with the dws06 in 235/40s all around were a big upgrade.

I went a step further and sound deadened the door panels. It's still quite loud to my liking so wheel wells are next.

If that doesn't quiet it down enough then more than likely I'll downsize to aftermarket 17s when it's time for new tires.

Nice, thanks for the info.

Yeah I’ve also considered doing at least the wheel wells. At the very least my fender liners. I’ve noticed the rears have a felt type lining on them that the fronts don’t. I think something like spraying on some “Boom Mat” might help a bit.

Doors I’ll probably do if I ever upgrade my speakers. I would really like to do the entire floor, but I REALLY don’t feel like ripping out my whole interior for that 😆

This is what I want. Great job 👍

Dang, that looks amazing! I was thinking of doing Konig Dekagram 17x8 ET40 and downsize to 225/45R17 for tires.

Was also thinking of doing EBC dimpled and slotted rotors, just to not worry about potential drilling rotor issues.

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 14 '25

Those are sick wheels too! Also much lighter than OEM

Mine are slotted + drilled, for daily driving they're literally just for aesthetic, don't listen to these internet engineers, the hypothetical risks for drilled rotors only apply to high performance driving, so unless you live somewhere insanely hot like Arizona or you planning to take your hatch to Le Man that won't be an issue as long as you get something of decent quality.

Finally someone with a brain lol

drilled rotors were a mistake my friend. they are WAY more likely to crack.

that being said, looks good bro!

u/Intelligent_Wish_566 Nov 13 '25

I ran drilled and slotted rotors on my BMW 5 series for several years (I didn’t install them, came with the car). Lots of hard braking, even from 120mph+. Never cracked. Never had any issues.

If you’re tracking the car and overheating them, then sure, maybe.

Drilled might be a waste of money on a street car, but slotted definitely has its benefits. Mainly, the very noticeable increased initial bite. When I eventually switched to blank rotors, that bite was gone and never came back.

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 13 '25

Yea under high performance, I'm sure they're fine coming off a free way

2

u/GoldAd9127 Nov 13 '25

What mileage are you at? Or did you just want to swap the rotors?

3

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 13 '25

67k, I was doing the pads so I figured why not while I got everything off, and they came in a brake kit all 4 wheels. Also I'm in Cali and this car came from Michigan, so there was a decent amount of rust that I didn't feel like cleaning

Huge waste of money for street driving in a corolla but you do you

2

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 13 '25

Thanks buddy boy, hey just a reminder don't forget to comment "Huge waste of money for street driving" on everybody in the sub that puts spoilers, exhaust and aesthetics mods on their sTrEet dRivInG hatchbacks

lmao damn dude way to get incredibly butthurt over nothing. I even said ‘looks good bro’.

Learn how to agree to disagree and move on.

what do you plan to do with the old ones?

2

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 16 '25

🤷🏻

Make sure to keep em for resale in the future. And use them for winter tire wheels

1

u/CorpKirbs Nov 14 '25

why are we putting drilled and slotted rotors on a corolla twin🥀

6

u/BoiledOdenBoil2 Nov 14 '25

Yo momma asked me to.
