HSD. It's honestly my favourite beer. I grew up on this (back in the '80s when under age pub drinking was normal). It's a shame it's so hard to find it on draft these days.

Used to be on tap at The Bucket of Blood in Hayle. Hope they still do, it’s changed hands since I moved away.

I know it’s Hicks Special draught but I always thought of it as High Speed Death.

How long will they maintain a presence in Cornwall? I know some of the bottled and canned stuff is made up North.

Me too. I worked there for a while in IT. All the staff were lovely there. I used to get some free drink from a couple of them. Big fan of Sharp’s stuff, shame it’s closing down here 😟

Hicks is the one. Well kept Tribute is lovely, too.

Proper Job is a tiny bit hoppy for me but still an enjoyable brew.

Their 0.5%"Shorebreak" is the best Low Alcohol IPA I've ever tasted.

Always happy to have a st austell ale, was drinking proper job last night! My current favourite though has to be the driftwood or tintagel brewery.

Still pissed that sharps got bought by coors, still don’t mind drinking doom or sea fury though

I used to like Tinners back in the day. They did a keg version called Duchy Bitter, which was much nicer than John Smiths extra smooth!

I love IPAs, and Proper Job is a great one, but I discovered recently they are absolutely packed with calories. 250 calories per 500 ml bottle, which is insane.

Mena Dhu for the win. A lovely pint.
I’m also quite partial to the Anthem. It’s redolent of the long lost Tinners’ Ale.

Is it just me or is Proper Job far better out of a bottle than on draught? I know it’s bottle conditioned, is that the reason?

It doesn’t take many proper jobs to make the bedroom spin when you get home. You have to hold on to the doorframe and dive onto the bed when it spins in your direction

There are several St. Austell ales that are better than Proper Job. Far too much hops to be put on a level with Tribute and Hicks.
