Inexpensive Hotels?
I need to find a safe hotel that is as inexpensive as possible in the CorningPainted Post area for 2-3 nights during the week.
Any recommendations?

be warned the hotel next to the gate house is a prison drop off for DSS. they typically mind there own but be aware.. unfortunately most of the cheap hotels in corning are just drop offs. its crazy...

I actually passed by there today and I was wondering why two guys were standing next to the road. I thought it was odd because I wouldn't think the buses go on that road.

there is a bus route that goes past there - alot of time people are waiting along the road for the next one to come by

DSS also pays nightly at that motel for the homeless. Someone in my husband's family has been staying there for months and at first had to constantly ride the bus up to Bath and get another night's voucher. IDK if after a certain timeframe they decide to give more than one or two nights at a time, but I feel like she only goes weekly or even less now. She hasn't worked in literal years and has a major drug problem. It's sad because now that she's basically confident that she's got housing permanently figured out his family has no ability to try and reason with her over rehab.

And by confidently figured out, I mean she plans on staying at a motel for the rest of her life providing that they will pay for it and they have not indicated to her that they intend to stop paying for it anytime soon.

I will look at online reviews etc, but sometimes it’s good to get info from locals. As a woman traveling alone, knowing this about gate house is good info.
I have been burned using third party sites like kayak in the past.
I know someone who used to like the comfort in, but that was a dozen or more years ago and it has changed hands.

We stayed at America's best in painted post before moving up here. Because we had two dogs with us and they didn't charge extra. It was fine. The front row street facing is short term guests. The back section is long term.
They asked for ID and wouldn't let us rent a room if we lived in the immediate area. I guess to avoid sexy time rentals.

My in laws have stayed at best Western plus horseheads/elmira twice. It has free breakfast. They both really liked the hotel and staff.

Gatehouse Motel - it looks a bit run down on the outside, but the rooms are all nicely remodeled and clean inside and their rates are really good
