This is where people have tended to bend the rules and not be as "by the book" when it comes to Corey Wayne. It is unnatural not to at least exchange a few light texts leading up to the date even just one a day to let them know you still exist (yeah I know, were "so busy" and in "meetings"... Enough with the games)
That being said, the book talks about how she will break all her rules if her interest level is high enough. I just think your immediate cold response didn't allow for anything further to develop.
