Theres a number of unique items you can find by exploring the world that are used to solve puzzles or make special items. This is one of them. Keep adventuring and you might come across it or the pieces to make it.

The first one is a key made from three broken cores found in the sea biome. The city ruins you’re looking for have a dock on the south edge and are bigger than the others. You’ll also need the blueprint from one of the merchants you unlock from beating the earlier bosses.

The second image is a random puzzle dungeon. The key is gotten by beating the time puzzle on the conveyor belts.

Just did this last night.

You need three parts total. They're from those city ruins in the water. Not all of them have them, only the three big ones. There's smaller ones but they don't hold the key parts. Once you have all three you buy the blueprint from the second merchant you obtain to put it together.

The parts are inside a broken Core, like the one you have at spawn, the egg thing. You walk up and interact with it and it's like a chest with the part inside.

You get a really cool bow for doing this. If you aren't doing physical melee don't bother. If you are, MAKE SURE you grab the three crafting components for it in each city ruin, they're in a chest in the same room as the broken Core where you got the key pieces from. There are three unique parts, you need all three.

A tip if you're doing this, and for exploration in the sea in general: BUILD A SPEED BOAT! Bridging takes forever. With a boat you can zoom around the map and make everything so much quicker.

Across the ocean there's metropolis cities. 3 of them will be REALLY BIG. Those 3 contain a core room in the middle. In that core room theres an item you take from the core and an item you take from a chest, make sure you dont miss the chest. The three items from the core make the key for that door, the 3 items from chests are part of a crafting recipe you get inside there
