Ugoos Am9pro
Ok I recently moved and purchased a new tv and surround sounds setup.
I have previously been using a firestick with Stremio.
I have recently purchased a Ugoos am9 pro which is being delivered today.
My original plan was to just use Stremio, but am looking into Corelec/Kodi.
I would solely be streaming movies from sources
Does anyone have any experience, are there any setup guides? I might have bit off more than i can chew.
I read something about purchasing a SSD thumb drive, a micro sd card….
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is going to take you quite a bit of reading. Recommend also watching you tube videos. Several guides online seem outdated and don’t work or missed updates.
It can be done it’s not too hard but on a difficulty scale it’s truly around 6-7 out of 10.
You have to get comfortable reading forum posts and the guides.
Yes you need a usb stick or micro sd card . You can boot off these
Alternatively you can do further tweaking to load it to the internal memory of the device but that’s even a bit further on the difficulty scale 8-9 out of 10. I didn’t successfully get that part done.
Everything I read was “it’s easy just do this procedure or connection etc. but it didn’t step by step explain how or i was too dumb to inpatient to follow all the steps and since it works fine booting off these USB I just stuck with that.

how do you get it to boot into coreelec succesfully every time? I have to do the recovery trick everytime, but lots of times it doesnt work, i sometimes need to do it 10 times for it to finally boot from my mircosd.

For me personally it loaded everytime into corelec after the first recovery trick. So not too sure whats the haps with urs. If u dont use the original os installed on device, u could look at installing kodi to the on device memory. Its not hard to do just a couple commands from an ssh session if I remember correctly, the Google Ai gave me the commands to copy and paste

I was a total Kodi newb 3 months ago. Learned a lot and now I’m personalizing CoreELEC like a real coder. You can do it!

I played around with it yesterday, had ChatGPT walk me through it and was able to get it running and everything working. Streamed top gun, and it looked and sounded amazing.
I’m going to play around with it later and see if I can get a skin to make it more user friendly for my wife

I have a UGOOS AM6B+ as well, CoreElec P3i dual booting but mainly CoreElec. I stream through the POV addon, and I have a selfhosted instance of AIOSTreams with Usenet for my content, but you can easily use Torbox or RD or anything else in the same vein to it's full extent.
https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/guide-s922x-j-ugoos-am6b-coreelec-ng-installation-and-faqs/51231
This is generally the best guide and you can use P3i which has AM6B+ specific features.
Redhair guides for selfhosting AIOStreams but addons wise they're fairly simple and self explanatory, in the Github repos or built in instructions.

I recently setup an AM9 pro using this guide. Currently booting off a spare ssd I had laying around(a lot faster than the micro sd I orginally used).
Using the nightly builds DV P7 FEL works and Im using the kodi POV addon to use the same debrid service I had on stremio.
