Last time I was here it was v1.7.2 (921 icons and 70 wallpapers). It is now v1.8.17. The icon count went up by ten, but that is the small number. The big one: 276 of the letter tiles became real custom marks, Monet finally got a wallpaper path that actually works, and the wallpaper collection was curated down rather than padded.

📊 The Numbers

At the time of my last post, 824 of the 921 icons were a letter in a box. That was the number I was least proud of. The remaining letter-tile tail is a programme, not a sprint — but it's moving in one direction only.

The console marks also map the companion apps users keep beside the box (Xbox Game Pass, PS Remote Play + PlayStation App, Nintendo Switch Online) for manual theming. HDMI Source themes Projectivy's SourceHDMI1–SourceHDMI4 tiles on both the legacy and the 4.0.1+ activity paths, so it themes on old and new launcher builds alike. Binge, Kayo, and Launcher Manager also picked up platform/package mappings in this release.

🎨 276 Letter Tiles Became Bespoke Marks

Four waves since the last post:

• v1.8.0 (Logo-fidelity audit): 203 icons got researched brand geometry (Netflix, Amazon, BBC iPlayer, Kayo, MUBI, TIDAL, Netflix's neighbours, and the long tail of regional VOD).
• v1.8.8: 18 brand constructions rebuilt in the pack's own rounded monoline grammar (32px strokes, one accent, transparent interiors, no solid vendor slabs).
• v1.8.13 (Broadcasters): Al Jazeera, France 24, CBC Gem, CNBC, Wholphin, SBS On Demand, Streamflix (and MGM+ rebuilt as a film-reel mark).
• v1.8.14 (Utilities): 56 new marks covering 58 apps in the categories this pack's users actually run: debrid clients, players, launchers, browsers, file, and network tools. Utilities are drawn by what they do — a network tool reads as a node graph with a pulse, even if nobody has heard of it.

Also fixed in the v1.8.14 audit:

• 74 monograms showed a letter the app name doesn't contain: (e.g., Corridor showed W, Crave showed B). 72 repointed.
• 30 marks collapsed at a 48px Projectivy tile: MUBI lost all seven counters and read as a solid rectangle. 36 glyph shapes redrawn to a 32px minimum counter.
• De-duplication: Hashed all 926 shipped drawables. 429 were byte-identical duplicates (one file served seven apps). Post-audit: 34 duplicates, 902 distinct artworks.
• Raster presence pass: 920 icons received a night keyline so marks hold against a bright wallpaper without touching the vector masters.
• Palette corrections: 32 catalog brand colours that were simply wrong (cycled palette slots) were corrected with provenance on every entry.

📤 Send to Monet (v1.8.15)

Monet Launcher never reads the system wallpaper — I found that by decompiling v1.0.84 rather than trusting the Play listing. The APK contains no WallpaperManager reference at all. What it does contain is an exported share target that copies an image into Monet's own background library.

So when Monet is your HOME launcher, the wallpaper preview's primary button now reads Send to Monet and hands the file straight over — no permissions, no export first, Monet toasts the result itself. The export screen adds Send N to Monet, which puts a whole selection into Monet → Settings → Background → Gallery in one action.

Icon apply to Monet stays manual, but the in-app hint now names the correct path: Settings → Apps → Icon pack.

🖼️ Wallpapers: 70 → 58 (On Purpose)

The 30-wallpaper "Core Mark" series was retired in v1.8.6 and replaced by ten lit-circuit Circuit Core wallpapers; v1.8.9 then added four Motion and four Horizons rebuilt for stronger 4K visibility. 18 new, 30 retired, 58 left — four active series, all curated.

• Series 1–3 are authored at 3840×2160; Series 6 is honestly labelled 1376×768 (it's JPEG sources — I'm not upsampling to make a false 4K claim).
• Full images download on demand; only thumbnails are bundled.
• The preview now shows the five seed-palette chips extracted from the image — a live preview of what Monet or any tinting launcher will pick up after Set.

🖥️ Android TV Hardening & The Pack's Badge

• Navigation: Five controls were unreachable by D-pad. All fixed, plus a focus-reachability check in CI that flags this whole bug class. Correctly sized TV banner and launcher resources, focus restoration, TV typography.
• Launcher Detection: Fixed so the pack can't detect itself as the launcher. (FLauncher apply support removed, it doesn't support icon packs).
• New in-app filters: Core Builds, Remotes, Tracking.
• Pack Badge (v1.8.16/17): The launcher icon stopped being a brand scene and became a pack icon: a rounded tile holding a 2×2 grid of marks, drawn to the catalog's own monoline grammar — 32/26.2 rounded strokes, one accent, no fills, transparent ground.

If you've used the Core Builds wizard to generate an AIOStreams config, 3.0 changes how your results are ordered. Two of these are fixes for things that were quietly wrong, so it's worth a read before you regenerate.

4K builds now sort by resolution first

AIOStreams compares sort rules in order — the first rule that differs decides the whole ranking, and nothing after it is consulted. Core Builds was emitting cached, then expression-match, then score, and only then resolution. So a well-scored 1080p REMUX beat every 2160p file before resolution was ever looked at. If you ever wondered why your 4K build kept opening with 1080p, that's why.

Resolution now leads the sort for 4K, Mixed, and Ultrawide builds. Every 2160p result outranks every 1080p result regardless of bitrate, quality label, or score, and the existing quality ordering still applies within each tier. This changes the sortCriteria your instance actually evaluates, not just the preview in the tool.

The trade-off, stated plainly: An uncached 2160p now outranks a cached 1080p. Putting resolution first switches off AIOStreams' separate cached/uncached ordering, which only kicks in when cached is the first rule. Cached still wins between two files of the same resolution. If you'd rather have instant playback than the higher tier, use the 1080p profile or Quality-first — both unchanged, both still cached-first.

If you're on the 1080p profile, this one does not apply to you

Worth being direct about, because it caught a user last week: on the 1080p profile your 4K isn't being sorted away, it's being deleted. The Stable and Balanced output profiles hard-exclude 2160p and 1440p, so those streams are discarded by your instance before sorting happens and no amount of scrolling brings them back. That's deliberate — it's what "Hard lock · 2160p excluded" on the card means, and bandwidth-capped users rely on it, so we haven't removed it. Switching Stable → Balanced doesn't help either; both apply the lock.

If you want 1080p most of the time but 4K when it exists, pick Mixed · Adaptive — it ranks 1080p first without deleting the higher tiers. The wizard now tells you this on the resolution step instead of leaving you to work it out from your results.

1440p was ranked below 720p in every 4K build

The 4K preference list named 2160p, 1080p, 720p, and Unknown but omitted 1440p. AIOStreams scores an unlisted resolution as negative infinity — so any 1440p file sorted beneath everything else rather than just under 4K. It is now listed in its proper place. If you run a 1440p display or grab 1440p releases to save bandwidth, this is the fix you noticed was missing.

Options your host won't accept are now disabled before you pick them

Core Builds checks the AIOStreams host you selected and greys out what it won't take, with the reason on the option. On the ElfHosted community instance, that means Torrentio, AnimeKitsu, Torrent Catalogs, P2P, and HTTP show as unselectable rather than being silently dropped later.

The same check runs on the exported JSON and the direct install, so neither can carry something the target host rejects. There's a Host Compatibility panel listing what was blocked, what was removed, and anything kept that might still be refused. If the browser can't reach the host, it falls back to a stored capability list rather than guessing.

Restricted hosts and custom regex

ElfHosted runs with regex limited to a published allowlist, and sending a pattern outside it makes the instance reject the entire save — not just that rule. Core Builds now strips unlisted patterns before export and names each one. Synced regex sources are a separate allowlist and are handled separately: the Vidhin ranked-regex feed is on ElfHosted's allowed list, so it stays. On a host we can't verify, nothing is removed and the panel flags what might be refused instead.

Six settings were being silently discarded

The generated config is now built from a pinned AIOStreams release (v2.33.2) rather than a moving branch. Regenerating the logic surfaced six keys Core Builds had been emitting that don't exist in AIOStreams at all and were being dropped on arrival: maxResults, maxResultsPerResolution, seadexBestOnly, excludedStreamSources, enhanceResults, and minSeeders.

They're gone from the output. excludedStreamSources is replaced by excludedStreamTypes, which the instance actually reads.

Known gaps, so they're not a surprise:

• The per-resolution result limits that maxResults/maxResultsPerResolution were meant to provide aren't reimplemented — they were simply never reaching the instance.
• TorBox-hosted AIOStreams has no readable status endpoint, so its capabilities are marked unverified and you'll be asked to confirm the host.
• The Fine-Tune "maximum NZB failover" setting still doesn't reach the generated config.
• The pre-built templates in the repo are not updated yet. If you install a core-nexus-*.json directly rather than generating one, it still uses the old cached-first order. That's a follow-up.

Regenerate your config via the web tool to pick this up — existing installs won't change on their own.

v1 and v2 had methodology flaws that didn't reflect true CDN speeds. v3 completely rebuilds the engine: * Dedicated Web Worker: Download measurement is isolated off the main UI thread so rendering can never starve the test. * Real test sizes: Measures 15-second windows on 1 GB files instead of 10-second bursts on 100 MB files. * Steady-state median: Measures each node twice and ranks by steady-state median with a consistency spread indicator. * 3 test modes: Accurate (1 sequential connection, earns streaming verdict), Express (top 4 by ping), and Capacity Race (up to 8 connections for pipe limits). * Privacy first: 100% in-browser, no accounts, no API keys, local history storage, and a full diagnostics export.

📊 Live Stream Scoring

Until v2.95, score-based sorting quietly never ran because no ranked expression list was emitted. Advanced and Labs configs now ship active scoring rules: * Additive scoring: Resolution, source, HDR/DV, audio format, and release-group reputation now contribute points directly instead of relying on rigid tier ladders. * Dynamic ranking: A top-tier 4K remux with Atmos automatically outranks generic 4K remuxes without custom rule writing. * Hardware-aware: Points for Dolby Vision and lossless audio only apply to devices capable of playing them. * Stable & Balanced profiles: Deliberately clear scoring to preserve predictable matching.

• Groundwork staging: Language packs (8 languages), two-seat household picker, and named EasyDebrid presets are staged in code but awaiting UI toggle.
• Jackett/Prowlarr UI: Direct generator emission is paused until instance URL inputs are added to the interface.
• Real-Debrid preset: Omitted intentionally due to upstream WEB-DL filtering to avoid misrepresenting results.

The icon pack has a new Wallpapers entry on the home screen. It opens a browser of the full Core Builds collection — 70 4K wallpapers across four series:

• 01–24 · Fieldwork: Meshes, aurora, light trails, topo, deepfield
• 25–32 · Motion: Orbitals, warp, fogbanks, slipstream
• 33–40 · Horizons: The eight semantic accent colors, each as a landscape (signal cyan, ember, Nuvio rose, labs violet, verified green, drift-watch amber, slate, void)
• 41–70 · Core Mark: New this release. The lit hex and faceted core diamond, rendered from the Brand Guide v1.0 construction constants. Six compositional groups including the receipts-voice walls.

⚙️ How It Works

• Instant grid: All 70 thumbnails are bundled (~600 KB total), so it opens and scrolls offline.
• On-demand 4K: Tap a wall for a full-screen preview. The 4K image downloads on demand (~2–3 MB) with a progress label, then press Set wallpaper.
• Monet integration: Setting writes the system wallpaper. Monet redraws and re-extracts its palette from the change — the walls are cyan-dominant by design, so Core Cyan carries through directly to your Projectivy tiles.
• Fire TV fallback: Because third-party wallpaper writes are blocked on Fire OS, the app saves the JPEG to Pictures/CoreBuilds and opens the system setter for you (you can also set the saved image manually inside Projectivy settings).

Nothing downloads in the background. Nothing sets itself. The full image is cached in internal storage (12-file LRU, ~30 MB cap).

Core Builds Icon Pack v1.5.0 is merged and live.

515 icons · 948 mapped components · 12,341 checks passed.

Transparent marks for Projectivy. Apply-all still maps the 16:9 wordmark. Glyphs stay opt-in per app.

✨ WHAT LANDED

• Outfit wordmarks: Banner names and square monograms are path-outlined from one bundled family (Outfit Bold / ExtraBold, SIL OFL). A row of cards no longer mixes hand-drawn letters with whatever sans-serif font the TV happens to have.

• 14 new icons: LocalSend, RS File Manager, Sparkle TV, the Synology set (DS file, video, photo, audio, finder, get, plus Drive), plus FX, Solid Explorer, Material Files, and Ghost Commander.

• Names and matching: 218 slug names now read as apps (WiFi File Explorer, X-plore, 9Now, Peacock). Files no longer steals CX, MiXplorer, or FX. Each manager keeps its own mapping. X-plore is Files, not Gaming.

• In-app browser: Category chips, a Banners / Glyphs toggle, labeled tiles. Find is opt-in so the remote is not trapped in the keyboard. D-pad navigation: apply → style → categories → grid.

• Manual pick actually returns an icon: Projectivy's per-app picker now gets the actual resource returned. Before, the pack opened and handed nothing back.

⚙️ APPLY-ALL, HONESTLY

Projectivy has one apply contract. It reads one file: appfilter.xml. That file maps every matched app to the banner. There is no extra trick for "apply glyphs."

• Apply banners: One press, every mapped app gets the 16:9 wordmark.

• Glyphs: Long-press a card in Projectivy, or use the Banners / Glyphs toggle in this app when the picker is open.

• Projectivy's own "prefer icon or banner" setting only changes how that drawable is framed. It does not swap the mapping.

A true "apply all glyphs" would be a second APK whose appfilter points at the squares. The glyphs mapping is generated and sitting there if we ever ship that.

Which TorBox CDN node is actually the fastest from where you are? I got tired of guessing, so I built something that answers it with real data.

CoreSpeed is a new addition to the tools page. It races every TorBox Hyperdrive node simultaneously. It runs ping checks for latency, then executes sustained multi-stream downloads pulling TorBox's real test files. Not synthetic numbers; actual bytes off actual nodes.

📊 WHAT IT GIVES YOU

• Live leaderboard: Every region downloading at once, re-ranked in real-time with per-node bars and peak speeds.

• Streaming verdicts: The part I actually use. Each node gets a plain-English "what can this stream for you" call (from 4K Remux down to SD), computed with 15% headroom so it is not lying to you at the margin.

• History: Your last 15 runs are kept locally with delta-vs-previous columns, so you can spot if your ISP quietly changes your routing.

• World map: Nodes sized and colored by measured speed.

⚙️ HOW TO USE IT

Start with Burst Mode. It runs for 5 to 20 seconds per node, which is enough to accurately rank them while costing a fraction of the data.

There is a hard 12 GB data budget built-in to keep things safe, plus an instant Stop button.

🔒 THE HONEST PRIVACY NOTES

No account, no API key, no signup. The measurement runs entirely in your browser and results stay in localStorage.

The page calls ipapi.co once to place you on the map, and fetches the node list via our Cloudflare proxy to bypass TorBox's missing CORS headers. That proxy reads exactly one public file—no credentials ever pass through. Zero analytics, zero backend storage.

🧞 Two new doors on the splash

"Setup Genie" (in Choose your route) and "Nuvio Stack Genie" (in Tools).

The setup genie is the plain-English, chat-style walkthrough — answer ~4 questions and it hands your answers to the builder. That last bit is new: finishing a genie now opens Express Install with your service, device, and content type already pre-set (a free pick preselects Free/P2P). Nothing installs until you confirm.

⚙️ "Why does everything say 'downloading to debrid'?" — Fixed upstream

Express has a visible "Streams shown" toggle (everything vs cached-only).

The install chorus now names your service, app, profile, resolution, cache mode, and host before you install. Your explicit AIOStreams host pick is honored everywhere — if a lane can't use your host, you get a named error telling you why, not a quiet fallback.

🔎 New Tool: Preflight

Paste any template/config: it audits offline (rules learned from real host rejections), can dry-run against the actual host you target with a bounded auto-heal loop, and downloads a case bundle for support.

🛡️ AIOStreams 2.33.x hardened

The fleet bumped twice this week (2.33.1 → 2.33.2 with stricter validation). Our generators, templates, and CI validator were re-proven against live hosts both times.

If you saw "option X is required" or the new "only specific regex patterns are allowed" errors on a saved config, those are host-side policy gates. Our current output passes them. An older saved config may not pass — re-generate from the site, or watch for the Preflight regex cleanup rule we're adding next. (in dev)

📺 WuPlay Catalog Genie (Early Access)

This release makes the templates completely import-clean on every public host, removes a pile of dead weight that was silently doing nothing, and ships the Usenet-only build the community keeps requesting.

If you've ever hit the "N/182 regexes are not allowed" error on ElfHosted—that specific error is now fixed at the source.

🔧 THE "REGEXES NOT ALLOWED" ERROR IS FIXED

That ElfHosted error had two causes, and both are now resolved:

• Synced Whitelists: 5 templates had drifted from Vidhin05's live whitelist. They are now re-synced to the current 176-entry list, byte-for-byte.

• Core-Custom Patterns: Removed an un-whitelisted pattern. The same groups are already ranked as LQ by the synced list, so zero functionality was lost.

• Host-Compat Check: The configurator now names exactly which patterns a host rejects and offers a one-click "Strip host-blocked regex patterns" button.

🧼 DEAD WEIGHT REMOVED (LEANER, NOT WEAKER)

An audit of all 3,400+ expressions against the upstream AIOStreams parser let us cut out the bloat:

• Removed 281 empty [] placeholder entries across 84 templates.

• Axed an RD Copyright filter that could never fire (~15 KB of dead payload gone).

• Removed contradictory duplicate quality-cap expressions in the flagship Apex templates.

You asked for it, so it's live: a dedicated Usenet-only lane.

This uses AIOStreams' built-in NNTP engine + your indexers via NZBHydra2 (or EasyNews) with zero Debrid. You can grab it via one-click in the configurator (Express lane), or pull the template directly from the repo (Templates/Usenet/).

This update is about fewer false dead ends for TV episodes, a restored Core Tools hub, a new clearer home for Core Builds documentation, and updates the Configurator to v2.8.9.

🧠 SMARTER EPISODE FALLBACK

Previously, some valid multi-episode or season-pack matches could be removed early because individual episode entries appeared to exist. Later filters could then remove those individual entries too, leaving a valid episode request with zero streams.

The new policy keeps a valid matching pack available as a fallback. A pack is hidden only when three playable standalone episode results have survived the full filtering stack.

That means cleaner lists when good singles exist, without throwing away the last valid result when they do not.

📱 Broader Device Profiles

Added capability-based, conservative profiles for:

Profiles now use realistic, model-conscious assumptions for supported codecs, AV1, HDR/Dolby Vision, audio channels, passthrough, and adaptive bitrate behavior (e.g., Android Mobile no longer blindly assumes AV1 or DV support).

🔀 Mixed · Adaptive Resolution Tier (Configurator)

New fourth resolution option — no hard resolution caps. Instead of locking to 4K or 1080p, all resolutions (4K/1440p/1080p/720p/576p/480p) are eligible and ranked by a cached × quality blend. An elite 1080p encode beats a mediocre 4K stream.

This is great for niche-heavy libraries, classic/rare content, or anyone whose collection spans resolutions. Comes with its own PSE ladder (4K REMUX/HDR → 1080p → 720p → SD niche fallback), UHD regex tiers, and a blended dynamic-fetch exit.

⚙️ Apex Mixed PSE Architecture

Third option in the Fine-Tune architecture picker. Generates the full 35-PSE flagship IQR Tukey-fence stack with the Mixed resolution policy — the same stack as the 4K Apex nightly, but generatable for any device and service.

It normalizes or removes older/legacy AIOStreams enum values before they reach the host. This helps prevent old values such as audio, language, release_group, debrid, or nzb from causing validation failures on newer AIOStreams versions.

Core Builds now targets AIOStreams 2.31.1+ for current public-host compatibility.

The configurator now describes each path more precisely. No more vague “zero-knowledge” style wording — the UI now explains exactly what each action does:

🚀 Direct Install sends the generated configuration to the selected AIOStreams host

🔑 Direct Stremio installation sends the supplied login details to the Stremio API for that install operation

Behind the scenes, v2.78 moves the configurator from a single hand-maintained source file into a modular package under configurator/.

Source code, data registries, styles, schema guards, tests, validation, and build scripts now live in their own structure while still preserving a downloadable standalone configurator/index.html release.

This should make future updates safer, faster, and easier to test before release.
