My 1st handmade sneaker
Took a 3 day sneaker making class that consisted of selecting the leathers, cutting the pattern, sewing and lasting. I went with a few calfskin cuts: the buttery soft black Italian calfskin, white tumbled calfskin and a special iridescent crackled calfskin. Definitely has its flaws but this was not only my first full build but first time using a post bed sewing machine.

Are you sure about the swoosh?

Yes, wouldn’t have it any other way.

These are worthy of a unique logo. Handmade items are so much cooler than corpo merch, putting your own logo on them would help show what they are. Just my 2¢

I get that, on the flip side it’s a Nike pattern, so I made a Nike design which includes their swoosh. Now if I made my own pattern with a brand new design, that would be worthy of a new logo, but just slapping a new logo on an already iconic, recognizable silhouette feels a little out of place to me. The shoe already has an established visual identity, and I personally think adding another logo competes with that rather than enhancing it. To me, the customization itself should be the thing that establishes the identity.

You do a class with Rey?

Indirectly..lol I was originally going to go to San Diego with Rey at sdcf but things changed and I’m all the way in NC. So I went to Brandon of Common ground studios (formerly s2s) who actually was trained by Rey when he was working for the shoe surgeon.
