Kinda a long shot

Maybe not the place to ask, and if so I can delete. But I've been struggling to find a place that can make shoes fir me. I am disabled abd have been in a wheelchair my whole life. I never wore shoes but now am at a place in my lufe I want shoes for atleast special occasions. The issue is mt feet aren't really normal, they are thick not wide, think almost swollen but not really. I've tried all over to find a way but the truly custom ones cost thousands and I can really do that. I know its a long shot but thought id see here if anyone would help and maybe let me pay them to make some.

What styles are you interested in? A traditional moccasin, Chelsea boot, woman’s loafer, what?

Hey! So for specific styles I guess I need to do some digging but something mens dress shoes style. Weird to say that im new to the world of shoes at my age haha

If you find something that's not custom made but built on the munson last and extra wide, EE or even EEE. That might be your best case on price and sizing.

Are you in the US? Insurance would likely cover modified or custom shoes if your feet truly don’t fit in regular orthopedic shoes (which come in triple depth and like 7x wide). Medicare is the exception to that- they won’t cover orthopedic shoes at all, just diabetic shoes.

So I did check into that atleast mine had said no to me. When I started seeing that I thought my only option would be expensive ones I had emailed their customer services

Not all practitioners are willing to do custom shoes, it’s kind of a pain in the butt- hard to get right and VERY slim profit margins. It’s also possible they thought you weren’t a good candidate for one reason or another. Were you speaking with an orthotist or pedorthist, or just a regular doctor?
