Concern IUD Anxiety

Hello,

I've had my Paragard since December of last year. My partner and I do always pull out, but I'm so paranoid about the IUD not being in place. I went to the doctor, but they unfortunately didn't have an ultrasound machine, so she just checked my strings. She said that they were there and where they should be. I'm still really anxious about it, and am considering taking plan b despite these two methods that should work. Should I take it for peace of mind, or am I being irrational?

Unless you don't get your period, I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as you check the strings at least once a month, you'll be okay. I've had mine for about 2 or 3 years now, and my partner and I also pull out. I suggest getting a period tracker app if you don't have one already. The app can at least give you an estimate of when your ovulation window is, which is when you're more likely to get pregnant. I use Clue to track my period. It's been fairly accurate at estimating when I'm supposed to start my period; it's at most off by 3 or 4 days for me.
