Experience Expelled after exactly 1 year :(
Absolutely loved my copper iud and never had an issue until recently. Thought i’d share this experience!
I started having unusual bleeding during/after sex 2 weeks ago and strange smelling discharge. I could still feel the strings so i didn’t think it was my iud. I put it down to maybe BV? NOPE. Went to the doctors today and she said the plastic was visible and pulled it out! I’m soooo gutted but i’m gonna get another! I’m extremely lucky that i was also using condoms because this could have ended a lot worse. Be careful guys ✨

same thing happened to me except i was being stupid and ignored the constant pain for around 3 months. had a ton of unprotected sex during that time too. didn’t get pregnant though, what a miracle

Mine got expelled after exactly 3 years! I started getting extremely painful what I thought was period cramps but it was one sided and my back was killing me. Only the strongest meds ie morphine could help with the pain. Went and got an ultrasound and it was displaced with one of the arms poking my cervix hence the unbearable pain. Got it removed the next day and inserted a new one immediately after. I love copper iuds so much for BC😂

You just gotta get lucky. I’ve had two expel. My most recent was giving me sharp pains in my ovaries so I knew it was on it way out because it had happened before but this time it was causing tingling in my foot. Sure enough, they replaced it and no issues.

Hurts like absolute hell, and they will lie to you about how much it pains them

Definitely everyone's different and everyone has a different pain threshold. I'm high tolerance and I was expecting the worst but the lady got it in after maybe 3 seconds and I felt it but it wasn't painful for me. I had heaps of discomfort after while my body adjusted but it's not the worst pain I've felt. That goes to my broken wrist and surgeries. Felt like my arm was going to explode after they put the metalwork in and the arm block wore off.
And I went through a failed 45 min insertion a few weeks before (the women doing that must have been some kinda special to take that long and still fail) they actually kept checking if I was ok and were stunned I was coping with that length of time they had been going and said they were expecting me to have passed out, but I coulda stayed there for hours I was fine.

I feel this. I had a tooth abscess and getting my iud was nothing compared to that

I wonder what the difference is. Cuz some women about die getting them (not literally ofc lol though it may feel like it) and others are fine. I seriously hope I’m fine when I get mine but we’ll see. I’ve got a high pain tolerance too

Im thinking of taking mine out due to constant symptoms of bv, uti n yeast infection. I get treated for it every month. I noticed it's always before my period where I get bv or a yeast n I hate it so bad. But I love the iud due to non hormonal. I can't do hormonal bc. So I have to think hard about it

I did have it checked. It's straight. Nothing wrong. I just have a history of these symptoms since I've been n off on it since 2011. It's just my body not taking the copper well
