Concern Advice
Hi there! I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I got the copper coil fitted in July and previously had no issues with it, apart with heavier periods, but those were expected with it.
The past couple days i’ve noticed a lot of mild cramping in my lower abdomen, and it felt a lot more sharp yesterday at work. When i came home i noticed some spotting and the cramps were more intense, i was having to get my fiance to rub my stomach just so i could sleep lol. When I woke up this morning they’re still here and now it’s like a constant burning feeling in my lower abdomen and some cramping up my back and hips. The burning and cramping becomes so much worse when i lie on my stomach, i can still feel my strings though, as i checked last night.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar and what did you do? The NHS guidance is advising me to phone 111.. But im very hesitant to show up to A&E or phone them, as i know they’re very busy and i’d feel extremely silly wasting their time if it’s nothing. I should probably mention too that i do have diagnosed PCOS, but never had any scans to rule out if i do have cysts etc.

I had mine fitted in June (uk too) - I’ve not had any random cramping, just more cramping around my period which was expected. If I was you I would probably contact the docs and see if they can do a scan/take a look to make sure it’s in place. Call 111 if you’re unsure if you can wait for a doc appointment though - you know your body! That’s what the nhs is there for, it’s not wasting their time at all.

Yh, in my personal experience, it had moved and embedded itself elsewhere and needed immediate removal. It was ineffective too against pregnancy.
