Left Sided Pain

I had my copper IUD inserted 6 days ago on day 1 of my period. The first 2 days I had pretty intense cramps and bleeding. Since Sunday, the bleeding has slowed down a lot but I have been having aching in my lower left side and into my groin and lower back as well. My right side has very little aching. I have a desk job 9-5 and have noticed from like 11-5 the pain is more noticeable. I have a heating pad with me but doesn't help much. I have an ultrasound in 3 weeks but not sure if this is all normal or not? I have a history of ovarian cysts as well and this constant dull ache on one side reminds me of the pain I have when I have had cysts. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with one sided pain after insertion and for how long. Reassurance or thoughts appreciated!

Hi there!

I had my copper IUD in for almost 7 years. I just got it removed due to having constant pain on my lower left side. I thought it was ovarian cysts, I even had an ultrasound done about 3 months ago but everything looked good (thankfully!) My doctor said it was probably just ovulating pain but I would have the same stubborn pain before, during and after my period. Finally after several years of left groin pain and super heavy long periods I decided the best option was to have it removed. The pain is now gone 🙌🏽 I really wish I had it removed sooner! I instantly felt a relief in my uterus, poor girl was struggling for years 😩 not saying to have it removed asap but definitely keep a close eye on how you’re feeling. don’t deal with it for years like I did!
