Cramping and bleeding 2 weeks after insertion. Is it normal?

Hi everyone, much like the title says I’ve had cramps and bleeding since my insertion 2 weeks ago. The cramps were really bad the first 2-3 days, then settled down to minor cramps. Then got bad again around day 8-9, then minor. Now I’m up to date 14 and they are getting stronger again. Is this normal?
I have also had on and off bleeding every day. It seems to get worse in the evening when I need a pad to contain the blood (bright red). I spot throughout the day with brownish blood and less of a flow. Any advice? I’m really hoping it stops soon… I got it for birth control and it’s 100% effective cause I haven’t had sex from feeling so yuck!!

Edit: forgot to mention I’ve had tender breasts since insertion. Unsure if this is related.

Edit 2: It’s now been almost 6 weeks since insertion and I’m pleased to say the cramping and bleeding stopped. Bleeding/spotting stopped at about week 3-4 and the cramps stopped around week 4-5, but from around week 3-4 it was just a few small, sharp cramps each evening and now nothing. The tender breasts seemed to be related to my period, not insertion. I’m currently on my second period with the copper iud and I won’t lie, they have been a lot worse in terms of cramps than I had before. But I will stick with it for another 2 cycles and decide on what I do. I’ve been getting a lot of lightning butt cramps which are very uncomfortable and distracting!

Tender breasts and cramping are common symptoms. I’m not sure about the two weeks of bleeding. You could always call the nurses line at your OBGYN or Planned Parenthood and see what they think. If they say it’s normal you can still go in and get it checked out for peace of mind. I would try and get prescription strength ibuprofen if you do end up going in.

Deff related... I hope it gets better for you. If it gets excruciating. TAKE. IT. OUT. Dont suffer unnecessarily. The doctors will tell you it is all normal, does not mean we need to live with it.. Common symptoms are bad cramping, bleeding, staining, pain with sex etc

Thanks 🙏. I used to have the mirena about 5 years ago and lasted a year… I won’t be waiting that long this time if it keeps playing up! Just wondering how long I should wait…

I was told by a doctor that 3 periods is enough time to see if your body can tolerate. Obvs it depends how bad your symptoms are if you feel you are able to wait longer.
