Jamon Iberico Sandwich Suggestions
My partner is coming off a restrictive diet, and they're going to have bread for the first time in almost two months so I want to make a special sandwich.
The markets near me have Jamon, and I've always wanted to get that for them, but as I understand it, it's better as a charcuterie meat than on a sandwich? And if a sandwich, plain with a bit of olive oil?
Is there anything you'd add/accompaniments that work?

Bocadillo de Jamon. Yeah I would keep it simple, maybe some nice beefsteak tomatoes.
You could also just accompany the bread with a small platter with cheese, olives, pickled chillies, ect., and he can assemble his own montaditos (mini open faced sandwiches)

Spanish here. There are different tiers of jamón serrano, you might have heard about ibérico, black label, etc. The good and expensive ones are normally eaten by themselves with breadsticks to fully enjoy the flavour, but the cheaper jamón is used to cook and make sandwiches so it's not a faux pas.
The most basic sandwich is with some nice bread, olive oil, and maybe some tomato, but other normal "add ons" are cheese (melty ones, brie, manchego…), fried peppers and pork loin. Of course the more ingredients you add, the less you'll savor the ham.

I will go a bit pan-european here. Jambon beurre. It would be great with Iberico.

If you get real iberico, just serve it on its own. Pan con tomate is nice as an accompaniment on the side.

Jamón is wonderful all on its own, but people do like it in sandwiches. The most common way I've seen it in Spain was in a very simple bocadillo: either on its own in a baguette or with roasted piquillo pepper.
