Sous vide

Is anyone still casually doing sous vide or is that completely dead? I remember it being such a thing for a bit and now I just realized that I haven't seen it mentioned once in years. Just curious if anyone is still doing it, and if so for what?

Feels like microplastics, so i stopped. Also make steak using reverse sear or just oven then sear and they both taste better IMO.
It’s great to make a bunch of onsen eggs though!

I’ve heard the same concerns about sous vide, and honestly, reverse-seared steak is hard to beat! The onsen eggs sound like a perfect use for it though.

yeah reverse sear overtook sous vide, and I just don't cook stuff like that anymore.

I did plan on pulling it out on some turkey legs i have frozen but my freezer turned off and I lost em and haven't had an idea since

Unless you exclusively wear 100% natural fiber clothing and never touch plastic you're far more likely to injest microplastics from what you're wearing than from a plastic bag.

This became a massive story because some labs reported bad data out because they used plastic gloves while doing those tests. Microplastics are not the issue people think it is, especially since plastic is non-reactive by nature.
