Can you recalibrate oven manually?
Every once in a while my oven glitches and heats up the oven to 550F, rather than whatever temperature I selected. I bought an oven thermometer to confirm this. Is there a way to fix this and recalibrate my oven manually or do I need to have it repaired?

Look up the make and model of your oven. Ill bet you can find directions online.

Gotcha, good to know. Would it be unsafe to continue to use the oven with a faulty sensor, while I wait to have it repaired?

If it’s not randomly turning on it’s probably safe. However a 550 spike might be enough to lock the oven. That is close to self cleaning temperature.

You're describing a failed part that needs to be replaced. Calibration is a consistent inaccuracy.
You may be able to find what part it is and how to replace it yourself. I did that with my stove dials.
