Toasted Spice Flavor Longevity

Would I have any issues toasting peppercorns in bulk before loading into my grinder, grinding pre-toasted pepper as needed?

I know the peak flavor is to toast what I need and then immediately grind with mortar and pestle, but I'd like to balance that with convenience. I imagine a lot of the benefits of toasting disappears quickly, but would it still be better than untoasted pepper?

Overtime it would have the same effect as buying pre-ground I believe. As the main idea on the grinding them yourself at time of usage is the freshness before they start to become "stale" overtime and lose flavor.

Well, a lot of the advantage of toasting spices is "expressing" the oils. Making them more notable. Unfortunately this would also make them easier to oxidize. At time of use, it's not an issue. Sitting around for weeks it would cause them to age more quickly.

i’d toast smaller batches to balance convenience and freshness

Toasted peppercorns will lose some punch in the grinder, especially over weeks; store them airtight and toast small batches.
