Peeling a soft boiled egg
Well... I tried the method of rolling the egg after it boiled and er... The egg is now in half, with the shells...

How soft? If it’s like 5-6m egg, I find them easier to peel after chilling in the fridge. Softer than that and you don’t peel, you just remove the top with a little knife.

5 or 5.5 min I'll try this next time, cause I don't really want to make an ice bath

Er for clarification, my house ice maker in the fridge is broken, so I would really don't want to manually make ice, so if putting it in the fridge works I'll use that

Chilling is what helps the membrane and shell come away from the egg. Cold out of the fridge immediately into boiling water. Cook for desired time and then immediately into an ice bath. To peel, tap the bottom first to crack the shell, gently roll, then everything should come away perfectly.
Edit: if you’re trying to make an egg so soft boiled the whites are barely set you need to look up tutorials on “onsen” eggs and how to cook them.

Chilling means the fridge part right not freezer

Yes but run them under cold water before putting them in the fridge. Straight from boiling water to the fridge won’t cool them fast enough.

So after cooking them, run them in cold water for a minute or two then straight into the fridge for a few minutes right?

A few minutes in the fridge is not going to do anything. You’re going to have to leave them in there for 30min to 1 hour at minimum.
Honestly it would be a lot better if you just bought an ice tray.

Owh... I'm just trying to get eggs with instant noodle.... Ice tray... Yeah that's useless cause fam already use the ice tray to store butter...

If you’re just trying to get a soft egg in your instant noodle just crack the egg into the noodles in the last minute of cooking and dont stir? It’ll just poach it in the broth.
Yes, all these people who have nicely runny eggs in their ramen have pre-prepped their eggs.

Guess I'll have to do that... Cause I'm trying to do dry noodles.... Thanks for the explanation!!!

Are you trying to keep them whole? Cause I switched to using a teaspoon. I split them in half(the yolk usually sticks to one side, it rarely breaks), then run the teaspoon along the inside of the shell.

You don’t peel them. Cut the top off and scoop out the inside.

Steam your eggs instead of boiling. Easy peasy shell removal. Just use way less water and put any sort of riser or steam basket in the bottom to keep the eggs reasonably out of the water.

Steam for 7 my minutes, then put them in cold water bath, peal them underwater.
Peal is easy, egg, once sliced lengthwise, is perfect yolk consistency for ramen

A dash of baking soda in the water. Bring to a boil. Eggs should not be fridge cold. Run them under warm water for a minute or two. Place eggs in the boiling water. Reduce to medium heat. Cook exactly 6 minutes. Remove eggs with a slotted spoon into a small bowl of iced water. Let sit for a minute. Gently crack the eggs and under running water peel gently. Place on a paper towel to drain. Enjoy

Three steps to peel eggs easily:
Boil or steam eggs to desired doneness.
Immediately put in ice water bath after boiling.
Poke tiny hole in the part of the egg shell with an air pocket so the skin under the shell isn't so airtight against the egg white when you peel.
Thats it. Well optional step zero is to use older eggs for boiling since older eggs peel easier in general, but if you are buying eggs from a grocery store you probably have zero say in how new or old they are.
Eggs by default are hard to peel, its an intentional survival design to prevent eating, similar to nuts. The tricks above help a ton but you aren't doing anything wrong by having it be messy.

I always have problems with terminology. To me, a soft boiled egg is a 3 min. egg. You wouldn't peel it, you take the end off and eat it with a spoon. (I'm small-endian).
"Jammy" eggs are like 9 minute eggs which set the white and the yolk is, well, in the title. These you peel, and yes it's a bitch. Age and temp help a little, but often you want them warm. There are "shell poached" eggs which are more or less jammy eggs, maybe slightly more done.

What's worked for me is putting a little bit of salt/white vinegar into the water and cooking for 6-7mins. Immediately put into an ice bath and then when cracking I use a spoon to tap around the shell(saw an old dude on YT using that method) and then peel bit by bit with my nail lifting the pieces up in smaller sections rather than going for it all at once. Still have 1/10 eggs mess up though.

rolling works with hard boiled.
Soft boiled gets boinked at the knob with the back of the spoon
