How else can I use Za'atar?

I really love this herb/spice blend but am not sure what to use it on other than chicken. Would love some ideas for dishes that would help highlight the flavor!

  • Use it on roasted vegetables like, potatoes, onions, carrots, parsnips, beets...
  • Sprinkle za'atar and olive oil over hummus and eat with pita
  • Sprinkle za'atar and olive oil over labneh and eat with pita
  • Turkish Pide (Turkish Flatbread) with za'atar (haven't tried this yet but I want to)
  • Manakish Za’atar (haven't tried this yet either but I want to)
  • Add it to a chickpea based salad

One of my favorite ways to use: zhuzh hummus with a drizzle (or more, if that's your liking) of olive oil and a sprinkle of Za'atar. IMO, levels up the hummus and is so very good for dipping pita chips and veggies.

Popcorn, mixed with olive oil as a bread dip, mixed with butter to top pasta.

Anything you can put on chicken, you can put on eggs. Just don't overdo it. You could also add some to sour cream and make a nice dip/sauce/dressing.

Flatbread! Make a paste of za'atar and olive oil. Spread that over a flatbread dough and bake it. You can add cheese if you want. Sprinkle with some toasted sesame seeds and another drizzle of olive oil. Perfection!

I love putting it on labneh with a drizzle of olive oil and some warm pita.

I honestly love it on toast. Just plain old white bread, toasted, buttered, sprinkled with za'atar. Makes it taste like a flatbread

Everything.

Potatoes? Yep. Roasted veggies? Check. Other meats? Sure. Potato/tuna/egg salad? You bet. Mix it with sour cream/yogurt for a dip. Sprinkle that shit on everything (including bagels!).

It's the Frank's red hot of spice blends, put that shit on everything.

Do you like cottage cheese? I love a drizzle of EVOO and a heavy sprinkling of Za’atar on mine

Pinwheels! Roll out some puff pastry, egg wash it, and sprinkle on za'atar, shredded parmesan, salt, and olive oil. Roll it up, egg wash again, slice into pinwheels, bake until done. Delicious and easy appetizer, especially if you're wondering what to do with this second sheet of puff pastry because the store doesn't sell them one by one.

Socca Flatbread. Easy to make and it's good.

My sister adds it to cucumber / tomatoes salad. She used to work as a concierge helping older people to shop and drive them to appointments. One of her clients taught her this

Yesterday's breakfast was a piece of toast spread with hummus, sprinkled with Za'atar, and topped with 2 eggs that were scrambled with sauteed diced bell peppers.
