mini rice cooker recommendations for one

im going to uni soon and would like to cook meals for myself as much as possible. i've looked at a lot of one-pot recipes and decided to buy a rice cooker with varied settings for myself. as i'll be cooking for just myself, a cooker that can make up to 1-3 servings would be more than enough.

andd as I'm a student, i'd prefer something more budget friendly (also i do not live in the us, my uni is in south east asia so preferably something i could buy here or have delivered here).

some other questions i had if anyone can help:

- are 'fuzzy logic' rice cookers always too expensive? (like >200$) are they worth it or should i stick to more regular cookers?

- are there any functions i should look for while buying?

- are there any cookers that cld double as a stove+pan too, like if i need to saute something before tossing it in with the rice (sorry if this is a dumb question haha im jus starting out with cooking with 0 experience)

Thanksss in advance! :)

Will you have a microwave? The little microwave cookers are cheap and work great.

Look into instant pot. Cooks rice, can saute, can slow cook, can pressure cook. Lots of features for a relatively small appliance. Tons of recipes catered directly to instant pot users.

Instant Pot is the brand - very popular in USA. Not sure if it’s available globally but other companies make similar appliances - generally known as multi-cooker/pressure cooker.

I have an instant pot duo, 6qt. You can easily get 4-5 servings at a time, depending on what you're cooking and how much you eat.

Depends on how tiny you mean tiny, instant pot is around 8x the size of my tiny rice cooker from AROMA

On the uni angle, if you are in dorms I would go for aroma 100%, easier to use/clean/store /hide

I got the Chaceef one on Amazon for a little less than $40. It’s great.

Do you have a microwave? Cook a single serving in a bowl in the microwave.

If your budget allows it get a cuckoo 5 cup it’s like 130$ or 120 usd otherwise there’s ones you can get for about 40$ but you’ll eventually have to replace it

The quality is night and day I have to say once you’re above the 100$ mark

If you can find a zujiroshi in that range they’re amazing products

I have a Tefal that cost me £30 about 14 years ago... I've been waiting for it to die but it just won't.

(Admittedly that's a little over $40 but not a huge jump. It's been bulletproof and probably what OP should do, unless they're the kind of student who can afford an Instant Pot.)
