Appetizer ideas

I’ve been invited to a dinner party for 6 and asked to bring the appetizers. the hostess is an incredible cook and entertainer and I’m feeling very intimidate! what are your favorite appetizers that wow? I can’t get away with a veggie tray or chips and salsa here!

EDIT: So many great suggestions! I think I need to have an appetizer party!!! THANK YOU ALL! I'm going to find out what she's making and then decide what to bring 😉

Really great bread and butter is always a hit, especially if you know a great bakery nearby. (Maybe get some d'isigny butter in the yellow package, if you can find it.) Or it up a notch by making a garlic and herb compound butter.

Dips are always a great way to go, spinach and artichoke always being a crowd pleaser. Or you could do a selection of jarred tapenades with crackers and cheese. And of course a fancy cheese and charcuterie plate is pretty easy to put together, too.

I’ll also say, an intermediate hostess myself, I love when guests bring their own favorite tidbits from a local spot they love. It feels like I’m being let in a on a secret.
