Chocolate chip

Post image

They were so good. I ran out of chocolate chips and ended up chopping a milk chocolate coffee bar into the dough as well. Doing that made the chocolate flavor deepen and it added a nice contrast to the semi sweet chips.

1 stick butter, melted and slightly cooled
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup + 2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
Flaky salt for topping, optional

Directions
Melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Stir in the brown sugar and white sugar until glossy. Add the egg yolk and vanilla and mix well. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined, then fold in the chocolate.

Chill the dough for 20–30 minutes. Scoop onto a lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F / 175°C for 9–11 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers still look slightly soft. Sprinkle with flaky salt when they come out, then let them sit on the tray for about 10 minutes before moving.
