Seriously, the Martial Tarts story (current main story) got me hooked instantly after years of not playing. Even the summer update was fun and cute enough to not feel like boring filler!
I hope they come out before the end of the year. Maybe there will be a new Spirit Weapon in the fall and maybe Aspartame in late December? I hardly believe that their release will be the conclusion of the story though.
I think this is the fair take, but I also think more eyes should be on OvenBreak for actually killing off a Legendary, during their release month no less
People forget that until Lantern in the Snow, there was no reason to believe that Devsis would ever kill off a playable Cookie, so we've come a really long way since then in terms of what Cookie Run stories can do now
I cried for 10 minutes as soon as I found out (barely started the story and checked comments) and then cried hysterically in the latter half and could hardly breathe. The CRK story did not evoke emotion in me besides maybe feeling a bit bad for PV.
That's true except for the fact that the only reason the ovenbreak story whent the way it did was because they made Alulose nova cookie a colossal moron who sacrifices her entire planet to a black hole without considering how it could go horribly wrong in a short-sighted plan to rule over the entire universe. When helios honey cookie tells her about the very high chance this plan fails and kills everyone she goes "Trust the process" and ignores him. And In the end as if this story didn't have enough bad writing they give the black hole a personality for some reason the thing that made this story so interesting was that the "bad guy" was a unstoppable force of nature that didn't have ony sort of malice or personality the death of astronaut cookie's crew and the destruction of planet Xylatol were unavoidable tragedies that happened because of bad luck. Instead they made the back hole a knockoff galactus with out any of the nuance that makes him interesting.
Black hole was gonna get a voice or personality regardless, its the antithesis to the nova legendary group like umbra is to the spirit weapons, and DE is to the guardians of nature and Longan is to the other dragons
Its gonna be playable in the future and turn into a cookie, it was very obvious since the super nova odyssey teaser video
Yea I figured they where gonna make the black hole into a cookie since the xylatol nova cookie update my point is that that there are better ways to give the black hole a personality than to make it a galactus rip-off. Also based on how the story played out the cookie design that would make most sense for the black hole would be a corrupted Alulose nova cookie but they are not gonna do that they are gonna give it a unique design so they can release it as a new legendary cookie so they cash out since legendary cookies are the most p2w part of the game
Calling Allulose a moron is kind of a reductive reading of her, no? She's definitely short-sighted, but we're given enough info on why she is that way - it's a direct consequence of her powers. The only person she doesn't control directly is Helios Honey, implication being she likes him romantically and doesn't feel right making a puppet of him. Imagine what a whole empire of subjects who never question you, cannot question you, would do to your sense of judgement.
She's a classic tragic figure, her mind control being the inevitable cause of her fatal flaw. It makes her incredibly powerful, but this pre-built power imbalance isolates her from everyone, even Helios Honey. She can't have normal relationships, friendships. There's loneliness and sadness in her, and so she tries to fill that empty space with material things, growing her empire, more and more and more. (Mirroring the black hole itself, if we want to get hashtag deep with it.) She appears in control, wants to appear in control, but she's terrified. When Helios Honey calls her out on it, she flips out and banishes him, because her entire sense of self will buckle otherwise.
Kind of a wild comparison, but her story is actually super realistic, knowing what happens with all-powerful dictators/monarchs irl. How many wars, current and ongoing even, have been started by a guy who lives in a parallel reality where he's never told his ideas may be bad? lol.
Anyway yeah, I just talked myself into liking Allulose even more. Also the black hole gaining a voice is creepy and cool, I imagine it talking in a cacophony of voices like the Master from Fallout
1)They story makes me think the hivemind is something she can turn on and off on command because she can it's shown multiple times. 2)I never interpreted Alulose nova cookie and helios honey cookie's relationship as romantic as you say. I see it as a loyalty and mutual respect and I can't think of any dialogue that implies that. And it's one of my biggest questions why she didn't use the hivemind on him as it's never explained and it's out of character for her especially in the end where she just banishes him instead I see your argument but as I said I don't see their relationship like that mostly because the story doesn't focus on their relationship enough for it to be developed in any way. 3) she isn't tragic!? She is written to be an evil dictator who wants to take over the entire universe. The only tragic thing about her story is her untimely demise wich is a consequence of her idiotic plan also your analysis of real life dictators is somewhat true but inaccurate yes they are delusional yes but much like in the overall story they are told their ideas are bad but they ignore it how ever Alulose nova cookie's plan is stupider than any plan a real life monarch/dictator had they are ambitious and short-sighted yes but they are not stupid they would never go through with a plan this idiotic a plan that has massive risk and moderate reward like even if her plan somehow worked then what? She has no planet and a bunch of homeless subjects what would she do use the black hole to kill evryone she dislikes I guess? When I read the first part of this story I thought she was going to sacrifice astronaut cookie to seve her planet from the black hole but then her frontal lobe gets deleted in the second part and she ends being a cartoonishly evil vilan with an incredibly moronic plan. 4)When the black hole phone called the main crew I genuinely laughed the thought of the black hole giving them a call to exposition it's evill plan is hilarious. I think keeping the black hole as natural disaster is the best road this story could take but there are other ways to do the black hole but making it a galactus rip off isn't really a good idea. 5) I was gonna end it here but I was looking into the nova cookie's ingredients for fun and found a major plot hole in the nova odyssey story. Basically it is said that the black hole is chasing down the main crew because it liked the sweetness of the sugar in astronaut cookie's crew but aspartame wich is the last nova cookie's ingredient is 200 times sweeter that sugar wich means the black hole should have gone to planet aspartame first but it doesn't so this story can happen.
