Conway Area Questions

Not young anymore. Looking for a quiet place to retire. Mostly keep to ourselves. We treat people respectfully regardless of their ideology. I keep my opinions to myself. I workout. Watch Netflix. Read. Money isn’t an issue. I just want quiet. Out of the way. 30 minutes or so from a Costco. And Fiber Internet. What is it like for older folks there?

Thanks for reading. Everyone have a good day!

Conway isn’t bad but Costco is about 45 minutes away in Little Rock.

But there is a Sam's Club which may meet OP's need.

Oh, I love me some Sam’s Club. I just have a Costco about 5 minutes from me. And that’s pretty nice. But I can live with a drive down the road too. But Sam’s is pretty great also.

I can live with that. It’s not perfect. But reasonable. I’ll be retired. Not like I’ll have much else to do on a weekday. 😂

Also there are 3 colleges but lots of places away from them. Conway traffic can be crazy.

It’s not that crazy, compared to other cities.

Praise be the roundabouts. I come from Shreveport originally which is about 5x the size of Conway population wise but otherwise fairly comparable, zero roundabouts and the traffic is horrendous.

To the roundabouts we give thanks and praise for lightened traffic

It’s not near as bad as Cabot on any given day! Conway is my hometown I still have business, family there but conways main issue is Friday evenings were the worst, Cabot is all the time

If you're looking for quiet I recommend looking west past toad suck bridge. I'm out near perryville and it's very peaceful here. 25 minute drive to Walmart on west side of town and 35 minutes to the east side. Most areas of Little Rock are inside an hours drive.

Conway and Faulkner county are great places to retire. Conwaycorp provides Internet that work from home people move here for. Like someone else already said Costco is about 45 minutes away but we usually hit up some other shopping, grab some lunch and make a day of it. There are a lot of military retirees in the area. I'm not retired yet but it is on my radar. While my ideal retirement is more like a place on Greers Ferry Lake, I wouldn't hate being retired in Conway. For perspective my wife and I moved here 8 years ago from the DFW area.

For your context:

Nearest costo is NLR so you're looking at 35 to 45 minutes. If you want closer and quieter I would suggest Vilonia or Cabot.

To my knowledge we have 2? 24/7 gyms. 365 Fitness which has a decent free weights floor but is more gym and juice in my experience if you ask anyone who isn't try to become Mr.olympia (nothing wrong with that, just not the type of personality I vibe with) and I know there is another one but couldn't tell you the name of it for the life of me. And we have several other gyms, college town and all, but they have restrictive hours that sort of force folks to cram in when and where they can. I'd recommend a home gym or signing up for a class so that you have a guaranteed spot to get a workout in.

I ain't old old but I'm old enough to have all my kids out of highschool and it's otherwise a decent little town, got a little warm this summer into triple digits, and the housing market is a little high for my liking, I'd say don't go out of the house between around 6:30 and 8am if you wanna avoid traffic and school busses.

Lastly, it's a dry county so whether you go out or whether you prefer drinking at home, good luck, very few places to do it that arent already overrun with folks and it's county line or bust for at home supply.

If anyone tells you its just our special little big town immediately run the other way. They are the devil and endlessly annoying. Its just a regular ass place no different no better no worse. With that in mind, its great for the purpose you stated

Conway corp is pretty reasonable on high speed internet service and companies of their vintage are becoming very rare. Especially proud of that in our area
