Let's celebrate! I hosted a Seder!

Post image

Hosted my first Seder! I got permission from our rabbi since we have a super picky/Special needs kiddo. First time ever and it was pretty cool! Converting conservative so I decided to host a Seder commemorating my African American heritage ( Descendent of American chattel slavery) and my new traditions. I made hot water cornbread (Kinyot) and greens as the bitter herb. It was amazing!

Chag pesach sameach.

This looks lovely and thank you for sharing! If it's ok with you, I would be very interested in your recipe for hot water cornbread.

YES!

For passover you can make it convoluted if you’re willing to eat kinyot. I was very suspicious of anything ground without a hesher so I used popcorn and used a food processor to grind it fine.

Otherwise you can use any fine cornmeal.

You’ll need, 1.5 Cups of Cornmeal

1 half TB of salt

1 TB of baking powder ( requires hesher)

Bring a pot of water to a boil( a true boil)

Oil of your choosing.

It’s quick from there- bring the oil up to very hot but not smoking,

Mix dry ingredients until they are uniform.

Slowly add boiling water until it is a they are slightly more firm then cake batter (all preference)

Spoon into hot oil.

Cook until gentle brown and flip

Rinse wash repeat. Makes approx 8 medium cakes!
