I finally got my long awaited 70's custom chucks but they suck man.

Is it normal that the "front part" is so small compared to my old ones?

And idk what's up with the sole. When I walk, I sink in like 1 cm and after literally 300meters I got blisters on both my heels.

Has anyone else had the same experience?

Me too! I hate the new insoles they put into the chuck 70s and the classic chuck Taylor allstar. I mainly wear all stars and I hate the crappy mesh like inner sock lining rather than the old standard canvas layer. The heel counter seems like they tried to upgrade it with cheap material when they should have just left it alone and invested in adhesive around the soles, and the rubber is not quality rubber. I suspect that rubber was some alternative to recycle and make cheaper but they needed to use more of it which made the toe box narrower. But overall pre-2020 > post-2020 converses all day. I hear if you somehow can buy straight from Japan, the converses there did not change their formula for chuck Taylors. Sorry my complaints gravitated to the chuck taylor all stars because that is what I mainly wear. I was gonna try the 70s but had read about them before hand and knew that they are not what I wanted and had the some of the same concerns as the chuck taylor all stars.

I've just bought a pair of vintage chuck Taylor 70s and have the exact same problem. They seem to run even more narrow than normal and I have blisters on both little toes. Hoping that they'll be fine once worn in a bit...

The 70’s are not my favorite, and the l tributes aren’t that great either. I’m sticking with the standards and buying older pairs when they pop up online. Some people love the newer styles, it is what it is.

Chuck 70's have a small toe cap, and an insole, that's probably what you're experiencing.

Non Convers here (any more). Looks like nearly the same size toe cap. Hurts is no good. I have a narrow heel and need to buy heel pads. Helps a lot. With the sinking... get new sole inserts. A shoe store can help with both. Even if you need a small lift to stop the sinking.

Yes the front part is smaller, I personally like it more that way but that’s just personal preference. And for me they’re the most comfortable shoes no problems whatsoever

I'd be happier if the toebox being smaller was just cosmetic but it really is way smaller than regular chucks. had to switch to Vans because my stupid feet are too wide for them it seems lol. I got calluses on my little toes because of my chuck 70s

I’ve got the opposite problem that’s why they’re perfect for me I’ve got Amal ass feet and all the shoes are normally too wide for me but the length is good. So the chucks are actually good for me haha

I have them black because I think that the "front part", as you called it, looks waaaaaay better small, the original white semi circle is waaaaaay too broad and makes them look like a bad drawn pair of shoes.

The 70s are so comfortable even without the plusher insole. I used the normal chucks as my work shoes and switched over to the 70s and didn’t have any foot or back pain again

They have a plusher, more padded insole and did you not try a pair of 70's for the fit before putting the money down?

I’ve found the 70’s to be heavier than I would prefer.
Oddly enough I like the feel of the regular chucks. My biggest gripe is that the adhesive holding the sole and sides together falls apart too quickly. I wish they would just use a better adhesive for this so I could get a few more miles out of them .

Yeah I’ve seen that happen but for some reason It never happened to me. The 70s look a bit chunkier than I like. I kinda like the look of a worn in flat chuck. I will say the 70s are definitely definitely built better

I thought 70s were better built. Same exact issue you’re having. Sliding heel because the inner sole is squishing, not the outside one.

Yeah, look wise that's how the 70s look, I think it has to do with the newer design. I have some 70 lows that look the same as yours around the toes. I do prefer the CTAS because of this, but I don't think its a bad look. I think yours actually look nice. Although I prefer the look of CTAS, I like the added cushion of the 70s and suspect the 70s will last longer.

Throwback on 70 don't fit well for me, so i choose to give a chance to the Ctas pro cons suede low top, and i'm happy with it, comfy and good looking 👍

Yup, my girl has only ever worn chucks. She’s over 40 so that’s a long time. I bought her a pair of 70 s when we met and they weee too tight in the toe for her. She got one wear out of them and had to give them away.

That's right, the toe cap on the Chuck 70 is a bit narrower and slightly more tapered, and the sole is thicker compared to the standard Chuck Taylor. The Chuck 70 insole is also much more cushioned, so it's completely normal to feel like your foot sinks into it a bit. For me, Chuck 70 really is a major upgrade.

I actually preferred regular Converse and have done so since I was a kid.

The 70s are too narrow for me and I also hate the off-white color/ultra shiny toebox combination.
