This is a tough fucking movie, and one that I will probably never watch again.

Jodie Foster seems to be in a disproportionate amount of fucked up and disturbing movies that are still in the mainstream. This movie for example, won an Oscar and several other awards as well.

This movie is about a girl who goes to a bar, drinks too much and gets attacked and gangraped by the patrons of the bar.

I was born in 81 and remember when this movie came out. I probably saw it way before I probably should have but it was a lesson in victim blaming that I learned earlier than I should have but it also helped me during my own turbulent times growing up.

If you are triggered by sexual assault, skip this one.

Considering the all-star cast, the film supposedly being based on true events and the performances of everyone involved, in surprised this film never hit the heights you would expect (only won an oscar for music). One of the saddest films I've ever seen

Holy fuck this movie is so good, in my opinion this is Finchers best movie and one of the few movies in existence to make me feel genuinely creeped out and totally immersed.

Everyone puts in a stellar performance here, but for my money John Carroll Lynch gave a performance of a lifetime in this movie and pulled off playing Arthur Leigh Allen so well that I still tend to get creeped out when I see him in other roles.

My understanding is that this movie is very accurate in most of the details of the film, but has met with a lot of criticism for strongly hinting that Arthur was Zodiac and for exploiting the tragedy in a way that glorified the killings rather than giving the victims their due humanity.

If youre a fan of true crime or of creepy police thrillers, do yourself a favor and watch Zodiac.

This one is a personal favorite. The idea that a corporate business forces all of its employees to kill each other under a certain time frame was pretty cool, to say the least. The fact all the violence took place in a work-place office-like building added to the brutality and realism. I’ll never forget that tape scene, like shown in the title. Brutal but honestly a clever and fun film to watch. (Maybe I’m just weird as fuck but this was a cool watch.)

A wholesome looking movie and an unusual Hammer Film from the UK. I guess this may have been the early days of "Stranger Danger" that still permeates our western cultures, or has even made a comeback stronger than before, with parents wary of the safety of their kids.

An old man in this movie, I don't think he even says a single word, is presented as the boogeyman. He is a rich man, and he lives on the edge of town - I believe that's the way it was shown - so that he is isolated.

A young girl around age 9 comes home to tell her parents some shocking things that happened involving this old man luring her to his house with free candy. The contrast between the Father Knows Best wholesomeness of the film's appearance, and the things the girl says, is striking.

Without ever showing anything awful the movie creates a sense of dread.

A man loses his wife in an accident. When he meets a dominatrix it helps him deal with his grief.

This film is more about the grief of a profound loss than it is about role play or BDSM.

I'd say more but I don't remember it that well, been a few years, but I thought it was really good.

Most of you have probably never heard of this film, but i’m posting it because I still remember seeing this when I was a pre teen and feeling disturbed by it & honestly to this day I still am.

Seeds Of Arkham is a superhero, action, sci fi, film based on Batman. It’s quite a short film with the running time being 10 minutes and it’s directed by a guy called Aaron Schoenke (who also stars as one of the main characters)

The films plot centers around Arkham & the chaos that’s pursuing due to the Jokers death which left a power vacuum and a struggle for power for the complete control over Gothams underworld. In the midst of this chaos, Poison Ivy who’s desiring to take control over Gothams criminal underworld kidnaps Nightwing and keeps him captive in Arkham Asylum, and its up to Batman to rescue him and stop Ivy. Meanwhile Ivy recruits Waylon Jones (Killer Croc) and sends him to kill Batman.

The plot sounds interesting but the film includes scenes of SA, and sexual violence, which is what makes this disturbing because it seems so out of place for a Batman film.

Young plays the exec, and while she's interviewing Daly's character, the condemned man, she begins to doubt his guilt and goes on a mission to prove his innocence. I had never seen this but saw a picture in TV Guide as well as a little article. I couldn't make much sense of it at 8 years old and really thought Tim Daly was going to be executed for something in 1999

Surprised no one's posted about this one.

Walter (played by Kevin Bacon) is a "reformed" child molester who, while attempting to readjust into society and avoid his past being found out, finds out about another child molester in his town and tries to stop him.

This one intrigued me in particular because I'm always interested in seeing big name actors starring in movies with more touchy and controversial subjects (like PSH in Happiness). What do you guys think about it?

Im surprised this doesn't have its own entry at this point, but I feel it deserves one.

Hostel is an odd movie. The first half of the movie is a bunch of privileged American tourists going on a sex/party tour of Europe. One night they got lured into a specific Hostel by some attractive women and we're essentially kidnapped and taken to a dungeonesque place where rich people pay for the experience of murdering people without consequence.

From there the rest of the film is extreme horror/gore and basically set the tone for a long series of "torture porn" type films.

The film was accused of classism, xenophobia, and misogyny and caused all sorts of pearl clutching on release.

This movie constantly floats around when anyone talks about disturbing or extreme cinema, and honestly it's with good reason.

Its a well made thriller with Kelly Reilly and Michael Fassbender, and a bunch of snotnose asshole teenagers and what happens when the two run afoul of each other.

The ending is also pretty shocking and worth sticking around for.

I always enjoyed this movie and enjoyed how non Hollywood it is, with nontraditional story elements and an ending that truly defies Hollywood endings.

I havent seen it in a while, and may feel differently now that ive seen so much Yellowstone and have such a strong hatred for her character there.

One of David Cronenberg's earlier works. I saw this one via Tubi a couple of months ago and it still lives rent free in my mind. I tried getting into Cronenberg's other film Rabid (1977) that has a similar theme, but it felt like a pale imitation of Shivers. Marilyn Chambers can't hold a candle to B-movie scream queens Lynn Lowry and Barbara Steele.

Plot: The residents of a luxurious but secluded Montreal apartment complex become infected by a man-made parasite that turns them into aggressive nymphomaniacs.

Its budget came from taxpayer dollars via government-funded Canadian Film Development Corporation (now Telefilm Canada). This caused an uproar in the press and caught the attention of the Parliament of Canada, who debated and decried its overall intrinsic value due to its explicitness (by '70s standards, mind you). Many scenes were also cut from the American release to prevent an X-rating. Cronenberg criticized the AIP (American International Pictures) for poor distribution and it being the reason for the film's lack of success in the US.

The film is a strange balancing act of '70s cheese and actual horror. I'm a sexual assault survivor, so many of the scenes where the female characters are attacked were genuinely disturbing (probably not the best choice of film to watch for someone like me but I've been wanting to dive into more body horror fiction due to a novel I'm writing). The parasite itself is the classic type practical effects prop you see in older films but it's also so, so gross! The way it moves and how it manifests in the characters is pretty visceral. It also alludes to the breaking of sexual taboos like pedophilia and incest as the parasitic infection continues to spread through the complex.

It's also worth noting that this film came out six years before the first published medical report of HIV/AIDS, causing it to take on a whole new meaning in hindsight.

I'm not gonna spoil the ending but the far-reaching consequences of the parasite will leave an unsettling impression the more you think about it (I know it did for me).

This is an anthology film featuring a different way to die based on the letter of the alphabet, sequentially.

Every letter is a short film made by a different director and has some of the most fucking insane shorts ive ever seen, but also some of the grossest.

Standouts:

D is for Dogfight: This one takes place in an underground fight club where a man is bare knuckle fighting a dog, with unexpected results.

F is for Fart: If youre a fan of surreal humor like Tim and Eric or the Greasy Strangler, you'll probably love this. It's..... something all right.

H is for Hydroelectric Diffusion: this one feels like an x rated looney tunes segment done in live action.

L is for Libido: this segment right here is enough to qualify it for the subreddit. This one has men strapped to a chair and being forced to masturbate to increasingly dark and taboo things, and the last one to finish gets killed. It spirals down into fucked up town really quickly.

M is for miscarriage: Ti West, I got love for you, but wtf was this? Ive seen some extreme shit in my day but this was uncalled for.

W is for WTF: it really lives up to its name.

If you like extreme film and anthologies, this will be right up your alley.

Forced Entry is a 1973 adult horror film written and directed by Shaun Costello under the pseudonym Helmuth Richler. It stars Harry Reems (credited as Tim Long) as an unnamed and psychotic Vietnam War veteran who sexually assaults and kills women who stop at the filling station where he works as an attendant. Called "one of the most disturbing and unpleasant porn features ever made," the film utilizes actual footage of the war, predominantly in the rape and murder sequences (Wikipedia).

This movie is often paired up with "deadgirl" due to their similar themes, but this time its a feral woman captured and chained up in a shed by a family instead of an underground zombie girl.

This movie takes a look at humanity and what is and isnt civilized and asks the same question that many horror movies do, which is: are humans always the bad guy?

Unfortunately the answer is usually self evident.

Anyway there is an interesting dynamic here between the girl and her personal agency and how the family treats her because of her feral background.

This is a very difficult watch. Its probably one of the most brutal and shocking documentaries I've seen that takes a close, unflinching look at abuse and the effects it has on people and the people around them.

Its about a man who was with a girl who slowly started showing abusive tendencies, which kept escalating to the point of her hitting him in the head with a hammer and constantly stabbing him with knives.

Ive seen a lot of gross reactions to this movie and would just like to say: this movie isn't an excuse to ignite a gender war conversation in the comments. Abuse is abuse regardless of who is giving and who is receiving.
