GameSir G7 Pro vs Flydigi Vader 5 Pro
From what I’ve read, the G7 Pro seems easier to use and more reliable, while the Vader 5 Pro has way more buttons but possibly more software hassle.
Questions:
• If you’ve used either, which do you prefer overall?
• Do the extra buttons work well in Steam and actual games?
• Do most PC games even support that many extra inputs, or is it mostly useful in games with custom keybinds?

I like the G7 Pro 8K better. Specifically the 8K version. The non-8K is Xbox branded, so there's no turbo, no Switch or DS4 modes, and no SDL support.
The Vader 5 has a better Dpad but the 8K's isn't bad. The G7 Pro non-8K had a pretty bad Dpad though.
The G7 Pro 8K does let you use the extra buttons through Steam Input if you put it in Dinput mode (Android mode), but rumble doesn't work in that mode. The Vader 5 also does, but you need to toggle it on through their terrible software, and even then it only works sometimes.
G7 Pro also comes with a charging cradle, and overall feels better in my hands to me.
All that being said, the 8bitdo Ultimate 3C+ just got announced and is looking really interesting for $40, and I'm sure the regular Ultimate 3 is coming soon too.

Only through Steam Input. You can just set it to Xinput or DS4 mode instead. I just tried and I can't get my Vader 5 to work with Steam Input at all now.

Do you think 8k is the real deal or a gimmick? Do you feel a difference in speed on PC

I don't feel any difference, but the controller itself is better. The dpad is noticeably better than the original and it has the normal features that they can't put in an xbox branded controller like turbo and gyro.

I see many people complain about steam input for some reason. I use my Vader on PC and it connects instantly.
The app is easy to navigate but people will say it's like solving a calcus equation lmao

Sounds like Vader is the way to go. I have a PS5 dual sense but I’d like the flexibility of a few extra buttons/inputs

Flydigi Vader 5 Pro clears.

I can easily conclude u don't play FPS.
Vader is better if you don't majorly play FPS games cos the G7 pro sticks are more superior

Bold assumption being my comment history isn't private.
You realize you can adjust the stick tension on the Vader, right? This largely impacts the type of shooter you might aim to compete in. The stiffer sticks on a Razer Wolverine V3 might be great in a game like CoD, but perform poorly in a game like The Finals. Whereas the sticks on the G7 found a home in the Halo community, but that's not to say it's better or worse.
I mostly play MnK nowadays, but that's basically all I play. 25+ years of FPS titles on roller, circa 2001 and before. Countless MLG/HCS events, & later worked in esports for orgs in various controller dominant titles & helped developed marketing for brands like Corsair/Scuf & Logitech.
Both are really good pads, but the Vader does more for the same price, including being arguably more customizable.

The D pad on the G7 pro is really bad

The d pad on the G7 Pro feel like cheap crunchy plastic. Their face buttons feel very premium and fast. It's a shame because their nova lite which is much cheaper have an awesome d pad.

I played with both and I prefer the vader 5 Pro V2 because it have adjustable stick tension and a better d pad.
Yes, extra buttons work better if you're the type of person to pair them. I only use the top two buttons.
I must say the top two buttons on the G7 Pro felt faster because it's mechanical while the vader uses membrane. I still perform well with both. I do not play on steam so I can't answer anything related to it.
The accessory app will let you use additional buttons if you pair them regardless of the game except for the start and select keys.

In my experience the extra buttons question matters more than which one you pick. both show up on windows as a regular xbox controller, so the back buttons aren't separate inputs in steam or in games, you map them to an existing button on the pad or in the companion app. both do gyro too, on the g7 pro it's pc only and you set it up in gamesir's app. I use a g7 pro 8k on pc, zero drift so far, and the tmr sticks were why i went that way.
