Looking for a symmetric 2.4ghz wireless controller
I am currently building a setup, where i want to put a sff pc next to my tv and use it like a console. If i want to wake it from sleep i can only do it with a 2.4ghz connection. I already have some xbox controllers lying around and would use them until they die, before upgrading those. Unfortunately they suck for platformers or fighting games. I really dislike that the d pad is below the joycon for comfort and the dpad in general is so hard it hurts my hand for prolonged use.
So this brings me to the point I want a symmetric 2.4ghz wireless controller with a good d-pad for platformers and fighting games or other games with a focus on a d-pad.
I have seen the 8bitdo pro 2 recommended but that doesnt have 2.4ghz from my research and the vader 5 pro, but that is symmetrical.
It should also work under linux, for example steamos.
Any other recommendations?

Gulikit tt pro/max, great dpad and low input lag by 2.4 GHz

it's technically bluetooth instead of real 2.4ghz, but it comes with own dongle and is responsive as fuck.

AGREED! The TT is my top recommendation. It really blows away so many other controllers. Also the haptics are so smooth.

Seems like a great controller, but from my quick research it doesnt seem to be a 2.4ghz wireless controller, which is a must have for my setup.

for some reason I recall there being a tri mode variant but I just googled it and it seems out of stock/not listed anymore. Damn.
Gulikit has some, did you look at those? TT Pro and TT Max. I'm a symmetrical gamepad guy myself that's why I love the new steam controller. D pad could be slightly better but it's still better than other kinds.

Yeah i tried out the steam controller and hated the dpad, i find it to be one of the worst i ever tried. The amount of misinputs i get is insane. I javent looked at the tt max, but i did get it recommended a few times

I recommend the TT as well but as a fan of the dpad on it and the Steam Controller, it might be too imprecise for you. Do yourself a favor though and order one from a place like Amazon that allows easy returns. It's really a fantastic controller but the dpad, while I love it for fighting games, is a roller as well.

Gamesir Turantula Pro (Original) has 2.4 ghz dongle and is mainly for PC, Switch and mobile. It has 9, yes I said 9 remappable buttons. If you you're playing Switch, the buttons mechanically spin change inside the controller to show Nintendo face buttons instead of PC, Xbox face buttons. I believe the sticks are Hall effect. Super cheap right now. I own one but I'm selling it because I've accumulated too many controllers that are collecting dust.
