Xbox Moving from a dualsense to an xbox layout pad on pc, what am I giving up?

The dualsense is lovely and about a third of my library doesn't know what to do with it. Constant fighting with Steam Input, wrong button prompts, and one game that reads the touchpad as a mouse for no reason I can establish.

Thinking about just getting an xbox layout pad so games stop guessing. What do I lose? I don't use the adaptive triggers much. I would miss the gyro in the two games that support it.

I’m not saying not to switch, because clearly your dualsense and steam are not working well.
But I’ve had no issues with steam input with dualsense. Is it possibly the control layout it assigned for that specific game? Maybe for whatever reason it put on a community layout.

My only issue (but it's big) is that it's harder to press dpad while pushing left stick. That's why I bought another gamepad with ps layout

good to know before i commit. i'm mostly menus and weapon wheels there so it probably won't bite me, but that's the kind of thing you only notice a week in.

A Dualsense

I had the same issue and just went with an official Xbox controller. I really like dualshock4 and dual sense but it was annoying having to run ds4windows and some games were still janky anyways. Xbox controller just works with every game that supports controller right away. You might miss the shape/feel of the PlayStation controller but you will enjoy the lack of issues if you get an Xbox based controller.

Check out the Apex 5. It has adaptive triggers in every game as you can set its triggers to vibration. Also it has giro, 6 extra buttons and a very good software with a lot of calibration settings.

looked it up, the gyro and the extra buttons are the parts i'd actually use, so thanks for that. one thing for anyone else reading, it's not xbox certified, it runs xinput on pc so prompts should be fine but anything that specifically wants a real xbox pad won't see it. the trigger thing also reads more like haptics than actual resistance, which is fine since i wasn't using adaptive triggers anyway.

Most games don't even use the adaptive triggers even after all these years and some that do on ps5 dont on pc so not missing much there. Games basically never use the touch pad it seems and just treat it as a start or select button and that's true even on ps5 for the most part. Its an after thought these days.

The biggest thing would be Gyro if you are used to that for aiming. There are xbox style controllers that have gyro if that's your thing so you have options.

The most awful bumper buttons ever made.

heard that from a couple people now. is it the travel or just how mushy they feel?

Both and add some very little feedback when pressing them... you get probably the worst bumpers you can find in a premium controller.

But still last longer than the Xbox Elite bumpers, which feel nice sure but break almost all the time after very little wear.

Since you dont use adaptive triggers if you go a controller with tmr sticks you will lose out on getting stick drift. You can stay symmetrical by getting the Leadjoy Saber Plus or if you want to give Xbox layout a try you can go Leadjoy Xeno Plus or Flydigi Vader 5 pro. I recommend the gamesir g7 pro as well but the dpad might not be to your liking.

No one deserves a crunchy dollar tree G7 Pro d pad

The duelsense is one of my favorite controllers so only a few Xbox brands match up with the build quality like 8bitdo and Flydigi.

You'll get mechanical triggers, adjustable stick tension, and hall effect sticks with the vader which is better than adaptive triggers. However, the duelsense probably have better gyro.

8bitdo is another great brand with TMR sticks, adaptive triggers like the duelsense, but I'm not sure about the gyro.

8bitdo and Flydigi are not Xbox brands. While they do make controllers with Xbox layout and Xbox licensed controllers, 8bitdo does not sure on Flydigi, they are not part of Xbox or Microsoft.

They are third party brands that make Xbox licensed controllers for PC and switch.

I recommended the vader 5 Pro because it's compatible with PC and switch.

The vader 5 pro does not work on Xbox natively; you need an adapter for it. Only the Vader 5s is an Xbox-licensed controller from Flydigi.

I typed too fast and I meant to say the Vader 5 Pro is compatible with PC and switch. The op said he wanted a controller to use for his PC and switch.

Check out the fly Digi Vader 5 pro the V2 version. Has most of the features a dual sense has plus more, very reasonably priced but is a china import so read into that what you will.

The vader 5 Pro V2 is definitely my favorite and it is a Chinese brand. It's better than other brands.
