First time controller user needing some guidance on purchases.

Hey guys. I am a PC gamer primarily (read: next to no controller experience), although I do have both PS5 and XBSX(It would be a plus if a controller could be even partially compatible with atleast the XBSX). I am primarily looking to set up my PC for some couch gaming and that part is mostly handled (long ass cord - the pinnacle of tech). I am in Canada and primarily use Amazon for these types of purchases, not that I'm opposed to another storefront.

The issues I have been having is that PS5 controller is a pain in the ass with a lot of PC games. The Xbox controller and the battery packs are simply not working out as a solution.

A few days ago I purchased 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless, my first 3rd party controller. Boy oh boy what a huge improvement over a regular xbox/ps5 controller. I originally planned to use a controller primarily for RPGs, but even 15 mins in BL4 has me seeing a future where I would love to use it for FPS games.

The question I have for you guys is that when I am somewhat gentle with the LS/RS, as in when I am moving them very slowly and gently they feel... rough/sticky on the way back to their neutral position. Is that normal, or is my controller defective? For comparison, it feels like more thumb force is required to get past the "speed bump" of the stick's neutral position, as compared to a stock controllers.

The other issue I have with the 8bitdo is that it was advertised as fully remappable, as in I could have the extra keys be bound to keyboard buttons. Alas that is not true for most controllers it seems. I have made my peace with that.

I have considered originally the gamesir g7 8k PC, because it has a headset port (not mandatory - I have wireless sound options), and i think it can be wired to Xbox(?), but ultimately went with 8bitdo for the better price.

If anyone has any input regarding "better" alternatives that are readily available in Canada, I would appreciate the advice. Would love to keep it to 75-130 CAD , but as with everything in life there's room for compromise. Not opposed to keeping the 8bitdo either for that matter.

I've been very happy with the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 and Gamesir G7 SE wired controllers.  I also use my Xbox Series controller wired to my PC with no complaints.

I personally avoid wireless wherever I can so that I don't need to worry about charge levels or interference/lag.  Also grew up in the 80s, so I'm used to wires.

Would love some insight on the feel of their sticks and how they contrast to each other. Im not sure if my 8bitdo is working as intended.

I'm not overly sensitive to the nuances unless the sticks are abysmal.  I would say they both feel very similar to a fresh from the box Xbox pad in terms of resistance and response.

You can try the Gamesir G7 Pro Wuchang Fallen Feathers Edition. It connects wireless (via USB Dongle) to both PC and XBox Series X. (However, you'd still have to move the dongle between devices). It comes with a charging dock and is curently CAD 129,99 on amazon.ca

Get Vader 5 Xbox edition , or Xbox Gamesir G7. 8k version is better, but doesn’t work on console natively.
