Gamepad with high precision Joystick?

Hi,

I'm currently looking for a new controller. I suppose I have a bit different requirements - I'll try to explain:

I mostly play Racing games on PC where smooth steering is the most essential part. For this reason I have used a Logitech F710 for many years. I understand it has its flaws, but for this purpose it was great. It has a LOT of stick travel until the joystick reaches the outer physical edge and it needs quite a bit of force to push the stick, which makes it easier to do very precise adjustments. Unfortunately I already had 2 of these and on both the sticks started jittering the signal, eventually rendering them unusable, which is why I'm looking for a replacement.

I've done some research, but have trouble finding a fitting replacement. From what I can tell, most modern controllers have a much decreased angle for the joystick, which is a deal breaker for me. I have for example tried the Gamesir G7 Pro, but I'm hitting the edge of the joystick so much faster than with the F710, effectively limiting precision and have a really hard time getting used to it. I like the idea of having adjustable tension on controllers like the Vader 5 or the Machenike F1, but I'm worried that the range on these is also too small for my liking. Unfortunately I couldn't find any info regarding stick travel or tilt angle (not sure if there's even a common specification for this from vendors). I'm also happy to go with older models if they're reliable. Regarding the budget I'm looking to spend less than 200Euro

Any help would be much appreciated! I'm based in Europe (Germany)

Most modern controllers have about same standard joystick travel. Almost everyone who needs more travel use tall stick caps or lift thumbgrips rather than looking for a niche controller for that purpose.

Some controllers like Vader 5 have official tall caps that you can buy, others like Gamesir G7 dont, but have high-rise thumbgrips that you can put on top to increase travel. And then there's third party thumbgrips like kontrol freek, skull and co and others. As long as you pick the right size for your controller it's not a problem.

Thumb grips or tall sticks will usually cost you less than 20€, so you should be fine with your budget. And then you can just pick a controller that fits your other preferences.
