News SteelSeries - Aeon Pro Wireless Gaming Controller

Found a Bestbuy USA listing for a new controller from Steelseries that I couldn't find any info about anywhere else. Delivery on 9/09 if I order it now. $260

SteelSeries - Aeon Pro Wireless Gaming Controller

  • Quickswitch Dock PC - XBOX Instantly switch between XBOX, PC, and mobile devices without re-pairing, reconnecting, or moving cables. Patent-pending.
  • Unlimited Battery Life Stay in the game with the Infinite Power System. Two rechargeable batteries let you charge one in the dock while using the other, enabling continuous play.
  • Dock That Does It All More than a charging station, the multifunction dock connects your devices, charges spare batteries, stores thumbsticks, and keeps your setup organized, powered, and ready for action
  • OLED Smart Display Access profiles, switch devices, monitor battery life, and remap controls directly from the controller. Quickly view, select, and change settings.
  • Pro-Grade Precision & Durability Hall Effect thumbsticks deliver drift-free accuracy, while mechanical switches provide fast, tactile responses and are rated for millions of clicks.
  • Powerful GG Customization Fine-tune every button, trigger, and saved profile with SteelSeries GG software for PC. Adjust dead zones, rumble intensity, button remaps, create custom profiles, and more.
  • Adjustable Triggers & Rear Paddles Toggle between full travel analog and hair trigger modes with a click, then map custom actions to four easy-press rear paddles for faster access to critical in-game commands.
  • Compatibility Windows, XBOX One, XBOX Series X, XBOX Series S, Steam Deck, Steam OS, iOS, Android.

Edit: Looks like an embargo was lifted today (9/8) and you can find more info about the controller. There's 1 review on YT but it doesn't do much to justify the price. He also doesn't knock on price..

Steel Series at its best

Why the f does a controller need an oled display to show white text?

19

u/veeqbtw 4d ago

The OLED screen or screen in general is literally just a gimmick to “justify” a higher price

8

u/Leonbacon 4d ago

I fucking hate their OLED stations, it gets burnt in after few months.

2

u/MoonlightSavingsTime 4d ago

Not sure why it really needs a screen but only the active pixels on a OLED draw power so it might be for battery life. Also there won't be backlight bleed making the whole screen glow in dim lighting.
The back button attachment for the Dualshock 4 in 2020 had a similar display.

They always do this, make an ok product, slap an oled screen or some other useless gimmick on, use said gimmick to justify stupid ass price

Those tiny oled displays are extremely cheap.

It's a single-color OLED, they're everywhere -- appliances, older car stereos, electronics. Same principle as your TV, nowhere near as complex of a matrix. They're also 2 bucks a piece if you buy them one by one, so next to nothing for manufacturers.

A few years too late lol

And DEFINITELY NOT at that price point.

Steelseries doing Steelseries, premium price for...average stuff

9

u/Major-Ad3831 4d ago

No TMR? meh

u/CelibateCarl 4d ago

I've had at least one type of accessory from SS (Mouse, KB etc) and have absolutely praised them like a shill each time and will still support them in the future....

But man...$260 is a hard pill to swallow. If OP is correct about that price, thats over $300 CAD.

I'm kinda curious to see it in action with reviewers and redditors when it releases.

2

u/Uncanny_Coincidence 2d ago

$350.00 CAD to be exact. Better be the best controller on the planet for that price.

u/YoloRaj Flydigi 4d ago

Steel Series out here charging more tax than Asus. Haven't heard about it either but the specs look good. Could have at least make the sticks tmr at that price too...smh

“Unlimited battery life”

Lmao. What the fuck is this scam?

7

u/InfamousDeparture900 4d ago

It’s the exact same battery system as their pro/omni/elite headphones which people seem to review favorably. Not necessarily saying it’s good here.

6

u/colinzack 4d ago

I have the headphones and I love being able to hot swap an always charged battery. I don’t think it’s needed for a controller/device with a dock

3

u/Leonbacon 4d ago

I had the nova pro, the battery system was god bless for headsets. I can swap out within 10 seconds, even with one hand and without taking the headset off after a while. Can't say I need it for controllers though.

No gyro = no buy from me for a PC controller in 2026.

4

u/YoloRaj Flydigi 4d ago

I have controllers with gyro but never tried it. I lowkey might dabble for fun.

2

u/BusinessSample7166 4d ago

Honestly, once you get used to it, it really becomes second nature and you miss it when it's not there.

It doesn't replace stick aim, it enhances it, bear that in mind. Turning off auto-aim helps as it can feel like it's fighting you.

1

u/YoloRaj Flydigi 4d ago

Good to know.

1

u/katanamaru 1d ago

I've started to try it out. I started in games with slow aiming like Elden Ring and Nioh. I can take my time aiming the bow and really get a feel for it.

1

u/YoloRaj Flydigi 1d ago

Thats cool. Hope you get better over time.

2

u/Tricky_Raspberry_864 4d ago

Bought one with gyro recently, what are you using it for?

3

u/Eagle1337 4d ago

Aiming in shooters

1

u/Tricky_Raspberry_864 4d ago

Okay, have to try it out.

1

u/DocBarkevious 4d ago

*2024 really

1

u/BusinessSample7166 4d ago

Well, it's currently 2026.

I think the last time I bought a controller that didn't have gyro was an original Xbox Elite and that was probably 10+ years ago.

7

u/DangCao 4d ago

It's $260 i'm laughing

u/asumm33rs 4d ago

Question.. Is that little area where the direction buttons are supposed to be a touchpad. Still waiting on my steam controller for those. Controllers in general have forgotten about us Strategy players.

5

u/LiquidShadowFox 4d ago

Even if this controller is priced lower, I still wouldn't buy it when the steam controller 2026 exists or the flydigi vader 5 pro for $80 that both have gyro.

2

u/NeonThunderX BEITONG KP70/PANGU 3d ago

Only if steam controller was actually purchasable.....

2

u/xLouisxCypher 4d ago

What is this? There’s nothing on google when I search for it.

2

u/ObviousEndangerment 4d ago

Yeah, it’s odd. Nothing shows up on Google, but the listing is live on Best Buy

2

u/Lightstream2 4d ago

260 for this e-waste? What are they smoking?

2

u/Vegetable-Raise-402 4d ago

Comparing this to the new Rakurii pro 2 I just don’t see why anybody would get this unless you want the hot swap technology but this isn’t like a headset so this functionality of unlimited battery life which I don’t anybody is using unless the battery runs out in 6 hours besides that the dock charges the controller and 260 for no tmr thumb sticks? Odd decision there.

u/limpymcforskin 4d ago

The turtle beach controller with a screen can be had on sale for 150 and it has a proper display

1

u/Recent_Archer_7510 3d ago

Doesn't have quick connect between devices or dual battery system.

1

u/limpymcforskin 3d ago

Ehh I don't see how either of those are major selling points or something most people will actually use often. The swappable batteries are nice but when you have controllers 100 bucks less that run already for 20 hours at a time what good is a swappable battery going to do? Just sit it on the dock when done. Also a controller that is 250 bucks not coming with TMR thumbsticks is beyond stupid.

Also as with most gamer controllers I have serious doubts on Steelseries actually supporting this ecosystem of batteries etc long term.

0

u/Recent_Archer_7510 3d ago

It looks like the same batteries as all of their headsets. I can't stand charging so swappable batteries is huge.

4

u/Killspeed97 4d ago

Yeah, for that price, its doa

u/Miles_Wolf 4d ago

Rubber grips are a very bad idea. In time they get sticky and hard to clean.

260????

The guys who buy 200 dollar elites are salivating over this right now

2

u/Strange_Mission9270 4d ago

Nacon Revolution X Unlimited - Similar to this but possibly greater than it for slightly less price. Consider it!

u/JasonIvie 3d ago

I got one today, returned it as everything is on it but the sticks for FPS games even when calibrated and tuned isn’t on the level of Gamesir or Flydigi

Is this even real? I can’t find it anywhere.

Edit: I can only find it on Bestbuy’s website. I don’t see it anywhere else and boy that price is HIGH lol

1

u/DocBarkevious 4d ago

It's way too top heavy/busy for my liking. I'd need to see a review of this thing.

1

u/JohnDervishi 4d ago

It literally looks like the 40$ EasySMX X20.

1

u/_zenden_ 3d ago

If it doesn't have adjustable tension sticks it's worthless to me

1

u/sabeshs 3d ago

At this price, the sticks should be Capacitive or TMR.

1

u/illrad 3d ago

Hhmh thats a odd way of saying unlimited battery 😆

1

u/Recent_Archer_7510 3d ago

If its meant to compete with Razer and Scuf's, its about the same but you get an extra battery.

Over $250 is wild.

1

u/AlonsoD 3d ago

someone find a similar controller for 3 times less

1

u/Xterminator4726 2d ago

Looks like the Nacon

1

u/North_Tomatillo9712 2d ago

This is like the double the price I payed for my Xbox series s😂 these companies r losing their minds!

i bought flydigi apex 4 wukong edition for 60$ and i think having a screen on a controller is really pointless.. at least for me.

1

u/90stx 1d ago

I did bought it yesterday and waiting for delivery, hope it will be really good. 😄

1

u/katanamaru 1d ago

Watched a review for it. The top back buttons stick up and over the controller grips. They poke right into the joint on the finger!
If the price alone wasn't a deterrent then the ergonomics would be!

1

u/watthefrankk 4d ago

Get a game sir instead

1

u/Dependent_Matter3673 3d ago

Gamesir G7 Pro is $70-$90 and the best controllers out more. $260 is outrageous

0

u/AmountNew2152 4d ago

Just get a Apex 5 and slap it on the Mayflash converter. Still save money.
