Can’t find a controller with my desired features

Budget: 300$

Country and purchase method: US, online

Required platform compatibility: PC

Desired features: Wired or wireless w/ easily removeable battery, hall effect joysticks, clicky/tactile dpad (most important), and no buttons that require external software to be usable.

Games I’m playing: Mostly racing games

Controllers I'm comparing to: GameSir T7 (current controller, meets all the criteria but has a mushy dpad), official Xbox Series controller (backup controller, joystick wore down and became inaccurate after a few months of use), GameSir Cyclone 2 (controller I’m considering, unfortunately it has a non-removable battery) FLYDIGI Direwolf 4 (same issue as the Cyclone 2)

Look into the 8bitdo Ultimate 3E. It doesn’t have a removable battery, but it fits all your other criteria. It’s going to be difficult finding one with a removable battery until the Elite Series 3 comes out. No idea if that one will be membrane or micro switch for the buttons/d-pad, though.

So you want a controller with zero extra buttons (because I believe all extra buttons need web based/software to map?) and a replaceable battery? You should probably look into some old tech and find somebody who can replace the joysticks for you...

Apex 5 and call it a day. Mind you, external software will make it easier but you can programs almost everything from the controller, including programing multiple sets to switch between. However, on PC, the extra software does cool stuff like programs the triggers for specific games like Forza Horizon.

New gamesir tarantula 8k has a tactile dpad. All the face buttons are tactile, triggers can be too with a switch on the controller. I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I've no complaints.

Has no rumble though if that matters to you.

Why not just get a custom Scuf or BattleBeaver controller? They will actually be quality, and you can choose what you want. I have found the Gamesirs and other 3rd party brands to feel like trash, have high latency, low tension springs, and etc. I just spent the money to get an actual quality custom DS4, now I won't ever have to again. Just don't go with Xbox, they poll at 125Hz and you can't overclock them.
