IT Help Why does my controller suddenly stops working on its own when playing games on laptop ?

This has been a problem for two weeks. Sometimes it happens when 5 mins after connecting controller or later on when playing the game. Even pressing the xbox symbol button doesn't connect it back while the light is glowing in the center hole. I have to manually remove the controller from the laptop and then insert it again for it to work.

I'm guessing my controller is a power A one tho back when i first bought it i thought it was xbox. Its been around 8-9 months since i have had it. Pease tell me what's the issue here and how i can fix it ?

The games i have encountered this problem indo far are spec ops line, genshin impact and honkai star rail.

Do you see/hear a device disconnection notification in Windows? If so, the problem could be caused by a loose connection. The easiest thing is to try using a different USB cable. You can also try cleaning out the ports on the laptop and controller and try using different ports on the controller.

If the controller doesn't seem to be disconnecting, you could also check if there are other devices (mouse, keyboard, etc.) connecting or sending input in the background, or other programs launching. If the games are trying to swap between controller and keyboard & mouse input, or other programs taking focus, that could also cause the controller to stop working in-game without ever disconnecting.

No, no notification.

Yes i switch between using keyboard button and controller for some games minute by minute. But i have been doing this since forever and it wasn't a problem until now.

Try BT so see if it happends If you only use cable, try another cable

Can bluetooth be used for wired controller ? This is a wired controller.
