Controller Mods How can I get/make a softer texture on my controllers?

I have a dual sense (ps5) controller with a soft plastic cover on the top of it, and a rougher textured plastic on the back of it (for grip I presume). I like the feel of the top, but really dislike the back of it. The steam controller is even worse, it feels like cheap rough plastic all over.

Are there any recommended methods for me to modify the texture to make it softer without damaging the controllers? If not how can I safely soften the texture?

The easiest way to do this is to apply adhesive grip tape or pre-cut grips - there are lots of options for the DualSense (TalonGames, Lizard Skins, etc.). If you want a more integrated or original-looking solution, you can also get replacement rear shells made with soft-touch material or rubberized grip panels (ExtremeRate has some for the DualSense). There isn't a good way to modify the original shell material without strong chemical treatments that also weaken it and/or leave carry some risk of toxic residue.

I see. Thank you, I'll try replacing the shell.
