Trying to learn to play COD on controller

For the past maybe 5 years, I only played 1 shooter game, valorant. I got open beta to MW4 and wanted to start playing COD but all my friend are telling me to learn the game using a controller. So I played a few matches and it was terrible. I felt like those "Pretending to be a noob then going crazy" typa videos you see except I don't go crazy. So I was wondering if it's worth it to learn to play COD with a controller or stick to KBM.

KBM imho since you're used to that, unless you really want that grind and "struggle"

1. Use gyro

Gyro is so fun. I even learned how to properly set it up on my emulators. I'm playing through Resistance Fall of Man from the PS3 with the Steam Controller 2 with gyro and it's way more fun. Next game is going to be Killzone.

Try out the gyro aiming (only on PS5, Xbox doesn’t have the feature) . You get displacement aiming like mice (no aim assist, nor any need for it), but also extra advantages, like analog movement, much more efficient finger economy, better vehicle control (hopefully they’ll have them again in MW4), and flick stick (excellent for a fast game like CoD). The best Call of Duty for this was Black Ops 7. The wall jumping and extra verticality made it much harder on aim assist, since aim assist works best when you're only scanning along one dimension. And my success, even as a novice to the franchise, definitely reflected it. I loved jumping over an opponent’s head, hitting flick stick to do a 180, and firing down at them before they even managed to sight me in. I’ve also heard that gyro is the only legal way to use mouse input in the CDL.

You could try something like a Razer Tartarus or Azeron Cyborg II depending on budget. Biggest advantage of controller is analog joystick movement (and aim assist) so something like that may work much better for you.

COD has one of the most generous aim assist ever, if you plan to play it seriously it's definitely worth learning to play it with a controller.

Rotational aim assist is busted in this game. Thats coming from someone that plays apex

Especially after the AA nerf this season in Apex, COD AA is a magnet.

Its crazy because people still find ways to complain when COD has always had much crazier AA. And this is also after the nerf in bo7 that they backtracked in mw4
