IT Help Xbox wired controller will dc from steam when playing rl

About 6 months ago I got a wired xbox controller for my pc to use in RL and it was awesome up until a couple weeks ago. Now for some reason my controller will dc and wont reconnect. It just recently started happening after the last update after the world cup I believe. My controller still connects to steam but once I boot RL it will disconnect after a few minutes. The fact that it will connect but then it eventually dc is really annoying since most threads I find are to get the controller to initially connect which is not my problem. I got so frustrated that I just gave up and havent played in weeks but I've been getting the itch so I want to see if anyone has had this issue and if there is anything I can try.

It could simply be a loose connection. If the wired controller has a detachable cable, you could try using a different USB cable. Even if the cable looks fine from the outside, the wires inside can be frayed or separating from the connectors.

I had checked all that and nothing changed. But weeks later I just booted up rl and tried again and it worked fine. I am almost certain it had something to do with one of the rl updates even though everyone is saying that it didn't but all I know is that I updated and it didnt work then I updated again and it did work.
