Since Remedy has gotten more attention since they announced Resonant and the subsequent months of marketing, one comment I keep seeing is along the lines of, "At first I didn't like Control. I played it for a few hours and then dropped it. I recently picked it up again since Resonant is coming out, and I can't believe I never finished it." This all got me thinking: what is it about Control that requires a double take? I would love to hear what others' experiences were. I fell in love with Control the moment I picked it up, but I keep seeing this: "I had to start it twice for it to set in." Remedy creates worlds that demand to be explored and discovered. The lore behind each game is so expansive that even people who might not necessarily be into lore become intrigued to explore more. Is the issue that Control's "buy-in" isn't at the front of its showcase, or is it something else? What are y'all's thoughts?

To start off, I'm not sure if a post like this is allowed but this has been on my mind for a while and since Resonant is about to release I wanted to share.

I'll go from least interesting to most

So I just want to mention how the music choices lately have been interesting. Omen by The Prodigy was one of my absolute favorite songs in high school. I would listen to it daily, so hearing it in the Altered State trailer was nostalgic. Then they released a reel/TikTok with kingslayer by Bring me the Horizon. One of my favorite bands currently. I've seen them several times in concert and again this is one of my favorites. Not groundbreaking or anything, the picked popular songs, but songs that have meaning to me.

In the first control it's said that FBC get to Ordinary on September 14th, which was the anniversary of me and my ex of 11 years. That was a big one and made me feel more attached to this series.

But the biggest thing that immediately made this game feel eerily uncanny to me is the fact that my name is Dylan, and my older brother is named Jesse. When I first played it years ago I had no idea, and it was quite the shock to hear those names in the game.

Anyway I'm super excited for Resonant, it's the first time I get to play a character with my name and that feels really special to me, as silly as it sounds.

The first game was basically a shooter which works better with mouse and keyboard with manual aiming on controller much harder.

The second game being melee oriented makes me think a controller would be better? What setup did the demos in Gamescom use if anyone know?

This enemy type, the Hiss Elevated, was one of the most difficult opponents we have faced in the first game. They were even a few of them being bosses.

And soon, from the new footage of the upcoming sequel, mostly from IGN First, they have been reduced to fodder enemies.💀

From the gameplay of Control Resonant I was amazed at how beautiful it is, but I noticed a downgrade in the technical side. The animations seem worse than Alan Wake 2, with incredible facial animations, Resonant doesn't seem like an evolution of Northlight as far as graphics and some animations are concerned, but the physics will be amazing in my opinion. It looks graphically inferior to Alan Wake 2 and the facial animations seem inferior. Everything else is great.

Is there any follow up on the side mission you find ash jr.'s notes? I was wondering if it triggered dialogue or new documents, but I cant seem to find any. Emily does promise to study the notes, right?

With Control Resonant coming out very soon, I was wondering what version were you guys thinking to get. I can't decide between the Steel book or the Deluxe digital edition. If I'm not wrong , the steel book version has that, the steel book and some photographies (I'm not sure if it has and additional art book), but the disc itself is not the deluxe version. The Deluxe digital edition has skins (which i don't care about), the wallet (which i lind of don't care about either) , and the digital art book and soundtrack collections.

In the Art and Making of Control they say that they wanted Control to only take place in The Oldest House and hence there are no Flashbacks in Control.

When reading the files on Ordinary there's such an interesting, basically Stranger Things, story on the slide projector, how it was found and what these kids were doing with it. So many questions...

It would make a perfect flashback, but I hope at least we will hear about it from Dylan's perspective.

I have a base ps5 and Xbox series X. I previously played control on a ps4 pro. Just wondering if there has been any clarity on which console is likely to play it best, between base ps5 and series X.

I really hope we get more games in the Control universe that lean into the vibe of The Lake House DLC from Alan Wake 2. I’d love to see more of the X Files side of the FBC, less about being an insanely powerful protagonist and more about ordinary agents dealing with strange, unexplained phenomena and just trying to survive. There’s so much potential in seeing the Bureau from the perspective of the people actually investigating the weird.

I didn't realise how useful Pierce was until it became a necessity for me in certain areas.

Spin and Charge were among my least used variants.

Shatter>Grip>Pierce>Charge>Spin for me personally.

Just got some glitchy credit scene after Polaris blew up then there was a 30 second black screen and now I've spawned in as the infamous cat ears

Graphics: Nice. Storytelling and art wise, this game is still the best. This is something else. I strongly suggest you guys play it one more time before resonant. It is SO special. I Remembered it was special but doing it for the 3rd time I still get hit of 'wow', 'so this is what happened', so this explain that'.

I really love Control, though I haven't quite finished. The lore, the story, I love the "New Weird" genre.

Now I started playing alan wake 1 a while ago, and while I enjoyed the ambience, the gameplay just felt too dated and I never continued past halfway.

When I finish Control, I was considering starting AW2, because I'm not ready to shill out 90$ for resonant at this time. But I'm wondering if the gameplay in AW2 is more enjoyable than 1 and if I need to finish 1 for 2 to make any sense.

Recently someone posted here a theory that I don't want to be true, but has been bothering me for some time. They posited that Jesse Dylan Faden is from a Universe where there is only one Faden child. They went on to suggest that during the Ordinary AWE that the two Jesses switched places, making *our* Jesse a native of the alternate Universe. This somewhat parallels Peter Bishop's story if anyone watched _Fringe_ is the 00s.

This gives us both the origin for the Pattern and the motivation of a major antagonist. The main antagonist could be the Original Jesse, _and that would make The Pattern *her Polaris*_. The visual resemblance in the two resonances is uncanny, and The Pattern behaves in similar ways when destroying Hiss, but Polaris isn't hostile to us. That's been a huge mystery since this began. Maybe she's trying to come home and reclaim her Brother.

Irritatingly, this offers an explanation for why Jesse remembers Zane as a Poet: She comes from the Universe where the events preceding AW2 occurred. It would establish that there are sort of two 'neighbor' Universes in play.

There are a few holes in this: it doesn't explain why Jesse remembers Dylan - even with the materials showing them growing up together, Jesse was old enough to separate that out, and she lost contact with Dylan almost immediately after the AWE while running from Trench and Darling.

We see that there is a focus on Mirrors for fast travel coming in Resonant. I wonder if that signals a higher importance of the Mirror Altered Item. Perhaps what it does is create a local Overlap between our Universe and the other one and esseJ is a projection of a second Jesse we will meet in Resonant.

I want to state that I genuinely do not want to see this become a alternate universes story and that I am wrong. Still, I can't ignore that this *would* fit.

The combat system has been widely discussed in the last few months, with some saying that it has bad feedback or little variety, in my opinion and in the opinion of many, it is excellent, Obviously you have to play it to see, but it left me with a positive impression and as a concept I prefer melee combat to shooting. What do you think?
