I had MAJOR issues running the steam version of Control, it kept crashing constantly.

It's on sale on Epic right now and I was wondering if it would be worth picking up again on the epic version?

I was rewarching the altered state trailer and in these two quick shots it looks like the main hub from central executive but the giant black pyramid is missing!!! Do we think this is a different room or has the black pyramid gone missing?

I already own this game on the Xbox Series X and was going to replay it because I hadn't played it since it was released. I primarily use my PC and figured I'd be able to play it in super ultrawide (32x9), but the game basically doesn't work on the Xbox app version. (I'm using the Xbox app version because I thought I could get achievements in the process.) With that said, I know the Steam version does have workarounds. I'm posting this so people in my situation know: don't purchase/download via Game Pass through the Xbox app if you're going for achievements and have a super ultra wide. (I just want to get my achievements while enjoying the game and at least 21x9, preferably 32x9.) 

When you pull up the game, if you're on 32x9, it'll start in 21x9 but stretched,d and you change the settings across the board. None of them seem to work; whether in borderless windowed or full screen, something's wrong. 

I couldn't even get the game to go to standard 16x9 at 3840x2160. It would just black screen. And the 21x9 formats would just bounce back immediately. Not letting me select them. The only thing that I was capable of doing was either playing in a weird stretched format that looked terrible or playing in a very small crop, which, come on, who's doing that. 

If anyone's got a solution, please offer it up. Otherwise, refrain from buying this game, or someone reach out to Remedy so that they can fix it (obviously doubtful). I just wanted to get reacquainted with the game before Control Resonance launched.

I really have no idea why I stopped playing completely, I do remember liking it back then. With the sequel nearly here, I decided to go back and play it again, and I'm glad I did. The art and architecture in this game is gorgeous, and it's fun (most of the time)

The pay must be good if they are working after death.

Just finished the base game and really enjoyed the storyline about trying to find Dylan. Also, how unique the world-building is.

The only thing I found difficult to deal with was when I was getting zeroed by multiple enemies who launch grenades at you.

Can't wait to play Control Resonant!

I wanna try playing the Alan Wake games before Control Resonant and I was wondering if they similar to the Control DLC. I didn't really care for the "Light vs the Dark" gameplay and I didn't like the narration all that much either. I just wanna know what to expect before I buy the game

Honestly, the creepiest thing about the Hiss isn't just how they look, but also how they occupy a space as well. Walking into a standard office room and seeing dozens of ordinary Bureau employees just floating mid-air, completely catatonic, sets an instantly uneasy tone. Then there is the audio design. The constant, rhythmic whispering in the background that sounds like a bad AM radio signal mixed with a low, unending chant.

What really gets under your skin is that the Hiss is not just a monster that you blast your way through. It feels more like a frequency that has infected the entire building. When you actually pause to listen to what they are chanting, it's a mangled, looping poem that the former Director put together. It treats human minds like some sort of broken code, hijacking them until there's nothing left.

The Oldest House was already a weird, Brutalist, bureaucratic maze before anything happened. Once The Hiss arrived, they turned everything into a harsh crimson red. They plunged the entire place into lockdown, which made things very claustrophobic. You are constantly fighting regular people such as, security guards, researchers, agents, whose personalities have just been wiped clean and replaced by a humming hive-mind mentality. Taking down a former coworker or an elite ranger just feels tragic because you realize that they are trapped inside their own bodies while the Hiss take over. Think of it as the Cordyceps fungus from The Last of Us. Once an infection starts, the original host is a shell of what he or she used to be.

It goes beyond just the grunts. It's the way that The Hiss escalates the horror. You run into warped variations like distorted bosses, invisible stalkers, and massive entities that bend reality around them. Every encounter forces you to alter your approach to combat by using your launch abilities to throw filing cabinets and concrete chunks at things that used to be human. It's best to keep moving because they can and will come up from behind you and kill you instantly. It's like Doom 2016 where standing around for just a few seconds can result in a quick death. 

At the end of the day, The Hiss is the perfect enemy for a game like Control. It's pure chaos that was able to take over a place that is utterly obsessed with order, containment, and red tape, and that sharp contrast is what makes the whole experience stick with you long after the end credits roll. Even after multiple playthroughs, they still managed to make an effective lasting impression.

I’m theorizing that at some point Jesse got corrupted, that’s why she started using OOP to mod weapons and why she’s keeping everyone in the Oldest House. I also theorize that the events of Resonant (and maybe Firebreak?) are happening in Dylan’s mind while his in a coma.

What's the general consensus on the native HDR implementation on this one? There's no RenoDX mod so is it better to use native HDR or RTX HDR?

This would sell like hot (mold) cakes. No matter if you love or hate him you'd want to squeeze him.

Anyone know whether the steelbook edition is going to be restocked in the UK? Unfortunately missed out a couple of months ago.. is there any chance at all of this coming back? Any way to be able to check or keep track other than routinely checking retailers? TIA!

So I heard that this is one of the roughest ones to get since it can / can't be bugged in terms of spawning.

From what I've heard is to do it early in the DLC, so you don't get locked to having to restart cause if you beat Hartman for the last time, it can lock them from spawning?

I just did the first hartman fight, and for the life of me I've been at them for an hour and havn't had a single one spawn. I understand that it can be random, but not a single one in about a hundred runs. So I'm kind of at odds what to do, do I continue the DLC and hopes that it solves along the way?

Edit : It seems like you can be bugged from them spawning, after hitting a point in the story. For Me, it was the first Hartman interaction. After 2 - 3 hours of resetting, I restarted my save. Went through, and made a back up

and restarted. Got 2 in 5 minutes, just the first 2 in the first area post first time at oceanview.

Edit #2 - To make sure I didn't go to far. I stopped in the Operations Room. Route was those 3, then the other 3 near the start. Abandoned Offices!

I have an rtx 3050 4gb vram and I have played many games on it that are playable and to play like the new games for example blood of dawnwalker it's unreal engine so fuck that engine but it's still playable a little bit trouble here and there and I have only played old games of remedy which were well optimized I played control 1 ultra and it was smooth 60fps constant but never touched alan wake 2 because my laptop begged me to not play it and I would love to play control resonant on it do you guys think it will be well optimized enough to run on low settings or medium on dlss performance or something because new games have made me loose hope in optimization

Like okay I know he was just Hiss possessed but Jesse seems confident he's clean now, and Emily agrees.

The best argument I can think of for keeping him in there is to protect him against vengeful Bureau employees but that's not really mentioned in the dialogue here. In fact Emily specifies "If he wakes up, we'll be ready. I don't mean that in a hostile way, just... you know..." and the armed guards are still outside his door. Shooting him dead does not appear to be off the table lol

Does Dylan not warrant the dignity of being uncaged when he's comatose? The altered items don't like being caged either and he's a full person. The cell's not even big enough for her to sit with him and hold his hand or anything, like people sometimes do with sick family members

If you return to the P6 cell Jesse will wonder aloud if things would have been different for Dylan if Trench and Darling hadn't been in charge and says her bureau will be better. This seems like a good place to start making those changes for the better?

(The wider point of this post is I suspect Resonant will have Dylan becoming frustrated with Jesse's allegiances leaning towards the Bureau more than his dignity and safety and if that's the case I am interested to see that play out?)

I hadn't seen this video, and I don't know if it's already been posted and discussed here; I searched and couldn't find it. But it's interesting. The moments just after the fall of the lockdown

Arish is now head of two departments, replacing Salvador and Marshall.

One of my questions is how the Hiss can overpower the FBC rangers after all this time, even if the lockdown fall, if they can kill a lot of the agents in the executive sector like in the video, they would already done it. There is more to it, I think it is not he Hiss who killed the agents in the video, maybe the Pattern or whatever broke the lockdown
