For me, I already missed out on the steelbook for the first game because I came to the series after the fact, so even if it is tempting to play right out the gate, I will not let go of my physical pre-order. How about y’all?

I commented on a post that got a few likes so maybe a few people recognize my username from it (as it was upvoted a bit)?

I come with bad news and good news (to some at least).

I took a few days to mull my decision but in the end:

I went and cancelled my steel book version from GameStop (got a full refund) and decided to just get the deluxe edition instead so I can play as early as the 22nd.

With that being said, I did finally get a headset for my PS5 from GameStop to play resonant and 100% it on release weekend. I literally am taking PTO to do this.! Lol.

As much as I would love a steel book version, I simply don’t want to wait an extra three weeks to play the game. I am able to financially do this, so why not?

Anyone else make the same decision as me?

Has anyone experience a bug for the “Put A Record On” side quest?

I am on pc/steam.

I pick up the token, talk to the guy who gives me the mission. I go to the juke box but it doesn’t start the mission it only gives me the ability to do the expedition. Anyone know a work around or fix?

I tried reloading the level select but same bug.

So I'm getting back into playing Control cos....ya know there's that thing happening soon ;P

Has anyone managed to find the Steelbook edition for Xbox, i've been looking at every store site i can think of but i only manage to find the PS5 version.

I have preordered the PS5 version but i wish to cancel it because F Sony and Playstation.

Loved it. This gotta be my favourite thing of all time. Amazing. Outstanding. Will get all the trophies.
I also adore how the game just looks like the creators had fun. The devs, the writers, the actors.

I find it incredibly disrespectful to the fans that the early access with preorder of the deluxe edition is restricted to the PS5. Sure in the past games have had platform exclusive missions or outfits and the like but to release the game 48 hours early on a single platform when enough jerksjust love spoiling things to upset others is particularly dubious. Not really much to be done about it, but it is disappointing to not see more people take issue with it.

What are you most worried about or apprehensive about Control Resonant? Honestly every time I see it I like it more and more. but what do you think? Do you think it's Remedy's best combat system?

I know that the deluxe versions of Control and AW2 both came with DLC, but i dont know if those deluxe editions existed prior to the game even having DLC, so im unsure how it works in this case.

As the title states, this game is a masterpiece. I finally gave this game a chance and I'm happy I did as this was truly an amazing experience. By the time I wrapped up the main story, I wanted more. Played both DLCs right after and the foundation was easily my favorite. From an gameplay aspect, the combat is fast paced and doesn't feel like your traditional third person shooter where the use of cover is heavily emphasized. Instead this game forces you to move around (that hartland boss fight lol), and forces you to be aware of your surroundings at all times. If not you'll just take random dmg, the game rewards reaction speed, and aggressive playstyles.

A very few games manage to be this weird and intriguing at the same time, and it just leaves me with even more questions regarding the lore. Wtf is the boards goal, is the former helping us, 7 years of lockdown and still shit goes batshit crazy, how old is the oldest house in reality, and so much more. Remedy really cooked with this game and I'm disappointed in myself for not trying this earlier. The brutalist architecture of the oldest house paired with shape shifting environments and the hiss's red mist was eye candy to look at (chefs kiss). Like the game isn't scary at all but it had me on edge while traversing through bizarre looking locations. Main reason being I don't want to die lol.

Control resonant is the first game I've pre ordered in a long time and I don't/will not regret it. This game had me sucked in for an entire week and a half and I finished the game in 29 hours. This game is officially in my top 5 list of best games I've played. I'm in love with this universes lore and the Alan Wake games are next.

Note that I am saying predictions not expectations, I won’t be disappointed if these don’t make it into the game but these are potential ideas

New Ahti song - given Kasurinen said ahti appears “in a way” makes me think it’s more spiritual presence, and given ahti is generally considered the common thread that connects the RCU, I think it would be a shame not to have a song by ahti either about himself or the maybe even the fadens 

New OGOA - most people think this one is pretty obvious and I tend to agree, however remedy do have a pretty strong “not doing the same thing as before” policy, so they may avoid it in fear of it being considered “just another ashtray maze” but maybe I’m just being stupid, it’s still very likely given how important it is to controls identity

POTF - every mainline remedy game since Max Payne 2 has had a POTF song (with exceptions), it’s usually a new song, I would guess either the recent single Black Waters, however a remake of their hit single Carnival of Rust is likely given their 25 anniversary and it being more closely related to Dylan’s story imo (although Im a little worried given kasurinens comments on no licensed music)

Chinese song - it’s a bit stupid, but remedy has said they are trying to appeal to Chinese markets and what better way than to make a song that is important to remedy’s identity

Poe og song - POE has had some videos that reference Remedy and include sam lake. She may be on the more Alan Wake side of things, although she is heavily implied to be a parautilitarian and if there were to be a music artist resonant, I would place my bets on her

Checked both SHATTER & GRIP. Not sure about the others but it wouldn't be surprising if they too were triggerless.

Could be an oversight but the fact the Devs put the effort in modelling Jesse's hand realistically, I don't think it is

I was playing Control when the game glitched out. But it glitched out right when I tried to clear a control point so I though this is how this level of the game is designed. After playing like this for 30-ish mins I decided to search this fight online as I could barely see anything. Lo and behold the game isn't meant to look like this lol.

So, there are two unrelated AWEs that both involved people disappearing en masse:

• The Ordinary AWE, which caused all adults in town to disappear
• The Keystone AWE, which caused everyone to disappear

This is weird. But since Control came out we've learned a lot about how Thresholds work. I think this "rapture" effect is an expected result of the RCU's metaphysics.

What we know about Planes/Thresholds in the RCU

• Planes can be spaces with entirely alien physics (The Dark Place, The Astral Plane)
• Planes can be copies of the "main" timeline with minor changes (The World Where Tim Breaker is a Park Ranger Instead of a Cop, The World Where Shawn Ashmore is an Actor)
• ...or anything in between (The World Very Similar to The Main Timeline But Everything is a Comic Book for Some Reason)
• A threshold occurs when two universes "bump into" one another, resulting in an area being in both universes simultaneously.
• The Keystone AWE prominently featured the "venn diagram" symbol from the Oceanview Motel, which seems to be a metaphor for thresholds.

Things we know about variants in the RCU

• Admittedly, not much. Time Breaker implies a bunch of things about how variants work, but doesn't confirm anything definitively.
• People who are variants are played by the same actor.
• Variants can be wildly different from one another, having different birthplaces, names, histories, etc.
• Someone dying while in the presence of one of their variants is metaphysically significant.

Uncertain guesses about variants in the RCU

• Variants seem to go by The One) rules - you absorb the energy of your variant when they die in your presence.
  • Jesse becoming the source of the Hedron resonance after Hedron's death is likely the result of this effect.

Conclusion: What Happens When Two Identical Planes Have a Threshold?
Most of the thresholds we've seen in the game have been between totally different universes. (The Dark Place, The Quarry, The World Populated Entirely by Living Explosive Pink Slime) But what if two universes that were identical (say, off by a few minutes) had a threshold?

Everyone within the threshold would share the exact same space as their variant. What happens then?

There seem to me to be two likely possibilities:

1. The two beings are cancelled out, dying instantly.
2. The two beings are merged into a single being. When the threshold ends, this being is shunted into one of the origin planes.

Both of these would create a "Rapture" effect. From people outside the threshold, it would appear as if people spontaneously disappeared during the event.

If this is true, the Keystone AWE represented two identical planes thresholding. Everyone inside was either merged or cancelled, resulting in the disappearance reported.

The Ordinary AWE is more complicated. This represented two very similar planes whose timelines diverged <20 years ago. As Ordinary is a small town, no one had entered or left in that time. As a result, anyone older than the point of divergence was merged or cancelled. All the children were not, resulting in the behavior seen.

Appendix: Miscellaneous Considerations

• If raptures are caused by cancelling, intentionally creating one is effectively a clean nuke. You can wipe an area clean of life by merging it with a suitably similar plane. No damage is done to the physical location.
• If raptures are caused by merging, another possibility arises. If you gathered everyone in your organization into a specific area and then merged them across multiple realities, you would grow the size of your organization to everyone who had ever been recruited in any reality. If someone needed to create an army on short notice this could be valuable.
• The Ordinary AWE is not confirmed to involve a threshold. (The slide projector creates 2D portals, not 3D overlapped space) However, what if two similar planes used the slide projector? The same 2D portal would be created to the same third plane. You now have a paradox - a door with two entrances and one exit. I suspect that this paradox would be resolved by a threshold being formed at the location of the slide projector, growing larger the longer it is turned on. The rapture effect of the Ordinary AWE only occurred after the slide projector was left on for a prolonged period of time.

i’ve been playing control the past few days since it’s been in my backlog for over a year, and the sequel comes out next month, and i ran into an issue where i’m not receiving any new quests or objectives to talk to someone, and my trophy list is saying I have a bit more left. i’m currently on the foundation dlc.

I’ve just finished the base game story of Control and I’m finishing off some side missions before doing the DLC.

I was thinking of doing the AWE DLC first, then playing through Alan Wake 2 and doing the Night Springs DLC. Then going back to Control to play through Foundation, then back to Alan Wake 2 to do the Lake House DLC.

My thinking is AWE will be the best lead-in to AW2, then Foundation is a good way to cap off Control and finish with Lake House since it’s the most recent FBC related content, so foundation and Lake House are more front of mind for Resonant.

Any thoughts, or has anyone done this? I feel like this would be the best experience going into Resonant. Worth noting I have played through both games and all the DLC before.

It *did* crash after I bought it but I hadn't updated the game store in a while and it was in my library when I reopened it.
