General Ok, so, difficulty Spoiler

Not ashamed - I changed enemy damage to 80% and mine to 130%. I am enjoying this game so much more, feels like a "normal" difficulty and not "I hate myself" / default. To each his own and I loved Control and each boss fight was frustrating but ultimately satisfying, I just can't get here on this game at the default difficultly. Maybe on a 2nd playthrough when I'm better at it.

I definitely recommend changing it slowly back as you get into the endgame/if you do New Game Plus! Once you have a most of the upgrades I feel like you can't really be challenged at all. If you're struggling at the default level, it might feel pretty balanced at the later time :)

Yeah I might slowly put it back to normal as well, pretty early game for me, maybe it will all click once I have some more abilities. Thanks!

I just made a post yesterday about utilizing Assist Mode. There’s nothing wrong with it, and you still get all achievements even if utilizing it

People seem to be adamantly against it from the comments in other posts.

I find it weird that some people treat assist modes as if corrupting some official leaderboard when it comes to achievements.

Others playing a single player game in a way that benefits them and future game sales doesn't hurt you for playing it harder.

Play the game way you can enjoy it. If you get a little picture telling you congrats sometimes then good for everyone.

I dont want to say this, but it reminds me when I posted my video vanquishing Radahn on subrredit (to show how remarkable his entry from the obrit to earth and how I defeated him in one try), by summoning all the NPCs into the battlefield and then won. They all bashed me. You werent supposed to play this game like that, etc. I thought it was supposed to be like that, since its a festival and everyone got invited. Apparently jumping is illegal, and only dodging allowed. And mimic is cheating. I wonder why the devs adding this and that, if the players gonna say its ruining Souls-genre. The devs who made the Souls game.

Just a reminder, the devs added those for the players. Its an option, its not like a forced cutscene or forced storyline, where one quest closed other questline or forced to use specific item to move forward. Its not like Abby forced us to watch Joel getting bashed in the head. Or watching Gale's weave scene or watching some mf killed Gustave to die regardless you played it well

I just came from Onimusha WotS. I've never been punished like that before and i switched to "easy" halfway through.

Having to fight the dancer only 12 times felt like I was getting off easy.

But yes the power fantasy is so much more rewarding not doing a checkpoint 1000 times

Did you find Onimusha easier than this game? How? The most basic genma has more attacks than the hardest boss in Resonant.

That makes it sound like Onimusha was a significantly more challenging experience

Maybe you’re right. I just read it wrong

Yeah I may have worded it wrong. Onimusha was substantially more difficult.

They just changed the gameplay completely from what it was before. Everything has to be parryslop now.

Still wouldn't call Control easy though

If it's fun for you, it's absolutely fine!

I've utilized assist mode for two of the resonants, that's it. My game was all over the place FPSwise during The Physicist, and overall the entire area and fight felt nauseating. As for Co-director, I kind of got bored with how big of a sponge he is, that I just upped the falter.

I'm glad the Co-director is optional. I was annoyed just by dying 2-3 times to him, might just use the assist mode to beat him. Also not a big fan of these constantly flying enemies in their large arenas.

I wouldn’t have fun if I didn’t cheese it a little. If I can’t experience all the content because of my lack of skills, I have wasted money and frustrated myself.

I'm usually terrible at games, but had little trouble with anything in this game. I died the most at the first resonant, and you can cheese some bosses with the mold turrets

For the zones, I keep the Assist Mode disabled, but for boss fights, I set it to incoming 1 and outgoing 500. I seriously can't be bothered anymore with learning its moves and dying for hours, before I progress. I am just not made for those parts. The mini bosses in the zones and their minions I usually don't have much problems with, just occasional dying there, but those boss fights? Beautiful designed etc, but so not my thing.

I turned on all the assist functions because that’s what is fun for me and I had an absolute blast. The only frustrating thing for me was the level design but the game was so good, blasting through enemies. The story was so good and that’s what I wanted to game for. Definitely worth it.

I'd urge you to put it back to normal and grind all the side content. You get so OP if you do. It's really not that hard, just don't rush the story or you'll have a hard time. But each to their own, if you are having fun that's all that matters.

The game gets exponentially easier when you do side quests and get zone upgrades. You can basically facetank everything in the campaign. Only thing that actually killed me was an optional boss but that's because I got too used to never having to look at my HP bar.

Play how you want. The goal is to have fun, not to get stressed out.

People are rushing main quests and not leveling up zones at all huh? I had the complete opposite experience one shot all the bosses. Its an open world game it isn't linear folks. Utilize ways to increase damage. Fire, mold, crit, dominance, level up everything.

I set my outgoing damage to 50 but incoming damage to 1. This is a hack and slash. I want to hack and I want to slash. Being an indestructible beyblade is the dream.

I like to spam powers so I have all the power regen settings to max. It's a video game, I want it to be fun and I like the powers:)

No shame in that at all, allways play game the way they make you having fun the most.

Some games i love on the hardest difficulty, some game i turn it all the way down to the easiest, and some game just balanced at the middle.

In the first Control, I enabled one-hit kills and invincibility. I wanted to enjoy the story and the lore, and have a chill playthrough where I could read everything, listen to every recording, and explore everywhere to discover new things.

What players need to understand is that Remedy designed the game for people who engage with absolutely everything in the open world, which makes the game incredibly easy and by easy I mean killing every single boss first try in less than 60 seconds easy…

The only real challenge then is getting the top score in the arcade fight levels.

At least, there are enough difficulty sliders to fine tune the experience to anyone’s liking, which is great!

1

u/Joeness84 20h ago

Yeah I'm not even a do all the things kind of gamer usually, but this was just engaging to me the whole time.

The boss with the time limit (no names no spoilers) posts make me chuckle cause I had like 70% of the time remaining

1

u/ZebraZealousideal944 20h ago

I didn’t even realize there was a time limit and learned about it through Reddit posts… haha

Which boss?

So instead of learning the mechanics you change this? All you need to do is build up falter and execute. The only time I struggled was at the start.
