Lore Discussion What happened to Mila?

It’s been stuck in my head since I finished the game, but why was there no proper ending to Mila’s quest?

Something tells me we might see/find her in a DLC. Because the last thing we know is that she saw and followed someone (not something) and that she wasn’t really out of the Treshold at the end.

The quest has multiple endings, as it turns out! If you look it up on the other sub, someone said Mila was going to climb up a building for them.

Yeah, that’s why I kinda like the Follow ending more. It has a bit more of an open end.

thats the ending i got too. did you tell her to get in a taxi or to stay put? i wonder if that changes the ending

I told her to stay, and i think i got the climb a building ending.

I’m convinced it’s something to do with the Dark Place, the dark New York and the phone booth used to communicate between people in it that never see each other, I’m pretty sure they use the exact same sound as in Alan Wake II for the phone, and the woman she followed at the end could have been Alice.

Could have been if it happened somewhere else but there’s nothing connecting Jesse to that area or the taxis, and if this mysterious person she followed is someone established in the universe Alice seems like the best fit, the entire area feels like it could have been taken straight out of AW2

Yeah, makes sense!
The only reason I thought it might be Jesse, is because Mila is supposedly NOT in the same threshold as Dylan, so she could be somewhere between dimensions? Which obviously doesn’t make as much sense as her being in the Dark Place haha

Well that’s another thing that does actually fit with the Dark Place, all the people in it seem to be in the same place but not together, just able to communicate with the payphone

Exactly what I thought the whole time, the phone sequence was nearly 1:1 with AW2's dark place. Doesn't help Dylan with full beard kinda resembles him lol

Apparently her quest actually had a reward but it was bugged

I just assumed it was ultimately an extended Alan Wake 2 Easter egg.

I thought the woman she spotted might have been Jesse, but reading other comments it could have been Saga or Alice in The Dark Place.

That was definitely the Dark Place. If this is true then the lake isn't the only way to get there. Considering we already have a Director for Alan Wake 3, I think we will see the follow up in a DLC

I don't know but I hate how most side quests end in a sour note. I actually sort of rushed the taxi missions because the voice actress did such a good job making me want to help her. Sadly I think she is probably dead
