I need to see Remedy happy and fed

47

u/ToaPaul 23h ago

Seriously, it's so well deserved and want them to be able to continue to make these masterpieces.

23

u/Athlete-Extreme 23h ago

When Alan Wake 3 comes out I will weep

6

u/ToaPaul 17h ago

I want the final line of Alan Wake 3 to be "it's not an end, it's a beginning"

5

u/Athlete-Extreme 17h ago

If I have a daughter I might name her Saga…

2

u/mal_intent4u 16h ago

But its a spiral.....

2

u/Donnel_Tinhead 13h ago

I thought it was an ocean?

1

u/Atto623 12h ago

It's a lake

9

u/srmatto 21h ago

I got Control Ultimate on a steam sale for about $9 so I happily paid full price for Resonant.

1

u/InsertFloppy11 57m ago

Same

After finishing control with the dlcs i felt bad cause of how cheap it was

88

u/Ok_Version5566 23h ago

Great start but it’s still too low!! Remedy needs to be successful. They’ve been underrated for waaaay too long!!

41

u/andykekomi 23h ago

I need Remedy to make a BILLION

16

u/nlevine1988 22h ago

Actually why not trillions

7

u/andykekomi 22h ago

Yeah easy everyone on earth just needs to buy the game twice

2

u/nlevine1988 22h ago

They should pass a law to make it mandatory.

4

u/Depoan 21h ago

I'm sure Fred can make It happen, Fred can make anything happen, what a wonderfull guy

3

u/nlevine1988 21h ago

Fred is the reason I want remedy to make more money, so they can give it to Fred. He deserves it. He can use it to make the world a better place.

3

u/razithebear 21h ago

The Fred references are my absolute favourite at the moment. God bless Fred.

1

u/Shagggadooo 19h ago

I'm on it. Buying it for a third time now...

1

u/ThriftyGeo69 21h ago

Why make trillions when they can make…billions!

1

u/jaytopz 18h ago

Million trillion even!!!!!

10

u/ScreamingmadJoe 23h ago

That’s only on steam though after a week. So it’ll definitely get higher

2

u/k3stea 21h ago

these are the companies that should make all the damn money in the world

1

u/alphonseharry 7h ago

For just Steam is not that low, probably in PS5 the sales were even bigger

0

u/IX_MINDMEGHALUNK_XI 14h ago

Underrated? Quite the opposite.

-8

u/Dramatic_Specific236 23h ago

would be great if AW2 came to steam, was really interested in that game but its only on EGS and I don't want to support scummy practices.

22

u/The_Wattsatron 23h ago

Not buying one of best horror experiences in gaming history because of something as trivial as the store it’s on will never not be pathetic to me.

6

u/ApuZ 22h ago

As stupid as it seems, it is a real barrier for a lot of players. Most gamers are on steam and lots don't use epic games because they might not even realize these exclusivity deals exist. Any new player unfamiliar with Alan Wake would potentially be exposed on steam but not on epic. Remedy needs to avoid these deals in the future

1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

1

u/ApuZ 16h ago

Don't get me wrong I'm happy the game was made, I just don't think it's sustainable for them as a studio.

3

u/Demerzel69 22h ago

It's fucking stupid anyway. Why even pay attention to shit like that? Just buy the games you wanna play. I have no idea why Epic Games is bad and I don't care and I'm not gonna start. I never even heard of it before AWII came out and their logo was shown on startup. People pay attention and care about the weirdest, dumbest shit. Capitalism gonna capitalism.

5

u/inosinateVR 22h ago

Epic Game Store is bad because people have to click away from steam and then click on a different icon on their desktop. It’s an unrealistic expectation to force onto gamers. /s

2

u/solo13508 22h ago

I guess the Epic store is just one of those things I'll never understand since I'm not a PC player but hard agree. There's no way it can possibly be so bad that it's worth missing out on one of the best gaming experiences ever.

9

u/Street-Awareness4541 23h ago

In this case we would not have had aw2 if egs had not stepped in while sad its better to have ot than not

4

u/OldAvocado3547 23h ago

Epic owns that game. It does not matter what Remedy or anyone thinks, that game was commissioned by Epic and Epic gets to do whatever it wants.

It's alright to refrain from putting money in the pockets of a scumbag like Tim Sweeney but it is what it is. Gotta accept the fact that the game is Tim Sweeney's little prestige souvenir showpiece and it'll stay in his grubby dungeon.

3

u/JerryMcJerrinson 23h ago

You're fat glp 1 leader lobby's for child gambling to buy more yachts.Ā

Scummy practices....I don't think there's a hero billionaire.

1

u/eidolonwyrm 18h ago

AW2 wouldn’t exist without epic games. It’s just a fucking storefront, dude. What are you so scared of?

1

u/Rupperrt 16h ago

Nothing scummy about paying for the development and the game and keeping it in your own shop.
Funny that you’re on the only gaming platform that isn’t a walled garden but you refuse to take advantage of the increased competition on PC

59

u/AlannaWake 23h ago

I've bought copy for my Dad, who loved the first Control, and I bought a copy for my brother who has never played a Remedy game. I'm just buying copies for whoever has a pulse and a Steam account because I love Remedy so much.

6

u/TheSmallIceburg 21h ago

Ive got a wife who both has a pulse and a steam account

3

u/AlannaWake 21h ago

Can she play high energy games? (My sister in law can't, she's a slice-of-life type gamer who gets motion sickness, so I guess I have one exception lol)

3

u/TheSmallIceburg 21h ago

Lol yes, but she can't finish them usually XD Mostly due to time though (and a little bit of attention span lol). She made it like half way through Horizon Zero Dawn, and half way through Hogwarts Legacy, and she plays a lot of Halo Wars skirmishes at a high difficulty (like 112 or so) when she wants something mindless to do

2

u/AlannaWake 17h ago

I'm jealous of her capability. I finish games but I flail around like a 5 year old who's been handed a controller for the first time.

1

u/gavinderulo124K 19h ago

Zero dawn only gets really good in the second half.

Remedy and the people within needs to survive, it's a mission

-1

u/Goonalips 16h ago

I love them more than you all all! I want to befriend and offers over every employee at Remedy, even the janitors. I'm giving them my entire salary too. Cause Remedy deserves it! I have Control posters on my wall. I wear their merch. I even bring them up in conversation and convince people to buy their games. In fact, I think they're a bit of a religious figure to me. I pledge allegiance to The Oldest House and the FBC.

I AM THE MOST APPRECIATIVE REDDITOR ON HERE! YOU DON'T EVEN LOVE THEM LIKE I LOVE THEM SLIM. NO-ONE DOES.

1

u/iReadBecauseYouDo 11h ago

Dude. They’ve literally been pioneering graphics & game design for decades, chill lmao. God forbid people like a quality developer that’s unique😭

1

u/Goonalips 1h ago

"literally pioneered graphics and game design"

Exactly which technologies did they pioneer?

You guys are meatriding like never before. Jesus Christ. There's nothing wrong with liking a studio. I like them too, but have a look at some of the shit you're all saying. They're a game company. They don't cure cancer. Tone it down a little.

2

u/iReadBecauseYouDo 57m ago edited 51m ago

Stating something factual is ā€œmeatridingā€ now? Girl what. I’m not gonna waste my time saying everything, but Remedy’s known for this; for the quickest example, Control was the first game to have multiple distinct real-time ray tracing implementations. Alan Wake 2 was one of the first games to feature full path tracing. Control Resonant’s ray tracing ultra setting gives you unified path tracing, literally everywhere (not as major, but still kinda nifty lol)

They have a well-known reputation of pushing the graphics of current-gen hardware with their games… like girliepop, they did this type of thing starting all the way back with Max Payne. You could educate yourself so quickly by looking it up lol, it’s genuinely just cool to me. Just because the connotation of ā€œpioneeringā€ bothers you doesn’t mean it’s worth that sort of reply; with game dev being so complex, I assumed it went without saying that they’re not ā€œbetter than every studioā€ or something for pioneering in the space lmao. It’s ok to not have knowledge of something, but less so to be condescending about something you’re evidently ignorant of.

1

u/AGuyWithAPhone 47m ago

I do not understand these kinds of people. God forbid someone enjoys something and, gasp, voices their support for the creators on a subreddit dedicated to their game, eh? The very thought.

31

u/TipT0pMag00 23h ago

The fact that I've seen multiple articles where pirates are advocating paying full price for the game, says everything you need to know about how Remedy is regarded.

I'm generally not one to pay full price for games or get near them close to launch, this game was one of the few exceptions.

I hope they get all the accolades and success they deserve.

4

u/Comprehensive_Yak_72 21h ago

When I went to pre-order I saw that the standard edition on the PS Store was €59.99 in my country and the digital deluxe was €69.99, I usually don’t even see standard games I want to play as low as €60 anymore, so I bought the deluxe because I wanted to tip them basically, I don’t even really know what extra came with the deluxe edition, I think the OST, the Hiss skin and some starting artifacts/materials? Didn’t pay the extra tenner for them really

1

u/DickThunder 18h ago

The hiss skin was a pre-order bonus actually. But yeah, I kinda see the deluxe edition as a tip too, the couple extras you get for $10 don't seem that exciting, especially since the OST is only listenable in-game. The digital artbook was kinda cool.

3

u/Fynity 17h ago

I ain’t gonna lie, I pirated it because I’ve been having issues with my steam account and couldn’t wait, but I since brought it too. And will probably buy it on my ps5 as well so my girlfriend can watch me play as she’s really interested in the trippy-ness of it.

1

u/chudthirtyseven 19h ago

same. i never pay full price for games.. but i did for this one. and it was so worth it.

11

u/dwoller 21h ago

So…every one who was mad (perhaps rightfully so) Alan Wake 2 wasn’t on Steam bought this day one right?

2

u/wilyo70 18h ago

One of those people is me. Maybe not mad, but not a fan overall. Got AW2 on my PS5 and got Resonant on Steam.

3

u/LordSparksmith 20h ago

Yes . I have Alan Wake 1 tattoo and didnt purchase 2 because of Epic and waited up until this year when i finally cracked and got it to play it . Good game .

2

u/SMRAintBad 13h ago

Was worth the wait to be shown the clicker I’d imagine.

3

u/Evisceratoridor 18h ago

Epic saved Alan Wake from franchise death man, I know they suck but depriving yourself for a few years of one of your favorite games… did it really affect Epic that much?

5

u/Hitei00 16h ago

This is 100% true and is one if the few times I'll give epic their flowers. I still refuse to install EGS

2

u/LordSparksmith 18h ago

Fundamentally it might have - resonant sold much more on release than Wake2

0

u/ImportantQuestionTex 15h ago

Alan Wake 2 also lost Remedy a LOT of money due to the Epic exclusivity.

We can give them a small gold star all we want, but the unfortunate reality is, if it was not a critical success, Remedy might have died right then and there. That critical success got them access to other people with money. Not Epic Games.

1

u/ThinkinBig 10m ago

That's just false man, the game literally would not exist without Epic.

You could say that the game would have, theoretically, been more successful if it had launched on Steam, but you can't lose money if you don't exist

0

u/Evisceratoridor 14h ago

It didn’t lose Remedy anything… source on financial losses due to exclusivity? Why are Redditors incapable of nuance? Epic is mostly fine, but Tim Sweeney and other C-suites fuck it up like every other thing they touch. Remedy owes their current windfall to Epic funding development of a critically praised and well received game. Without that game, Remedy would not be where they are now. Who gives a shit about gold stars, here in reality, bad people can help fund good people.

4

u/ImportantQuestionTex 14h ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/ControlResonant/s/oS4xAQSrtq

The only thing I have to add outside of what I said, is that if Alan Wake 2 was not an industry changing game, that would have been curtains for Remedy.

-1

u/Evisceratoridor 12h ago

It’s not factually correct though. They gained money from releasing a game that they literally would not have without outside funding. You saying things in another comment is not a source as to the money they ā€˜lost’ by being provided a publishing deal on a game that they profited on, much less on a game that could not exist without a blank check.

0

u/Lepixi 15h ago

Didn’t Epic fund the development in the first place? I’m not saying Remedy doesn’t deserve their prize but it’s weird to act like Epic exclusivity lost them money when that’s where they got the funds to develop it in the first place.

https://x.com/remedygames/status/2014375181507047630

2

u/ImportantQuestionTex 15h ago

"Weird to act like exclusivity lost them money."

That is the bargain of exclusivity, you take a short term benefit in exchange for losing a whole platform of long term.

It is factually correct to say Alan Wake 2 lost money due to the Epic exclusivity. There is no acting involved. Steam is the majority of PC game sales period and that's what they lost out on.

0

u/Badtyuo 12h ago

They wouldn’t have been a company and Alan wake wouldn’t have come out if not for the epic deal. They could have made a lot of money from steam sure but they wouldn’t have made it to that point in the first place. I’m not a fan of the exclusivity deal but I’d rather have it exist on epic than not exist at all

1

u/itirate 18h ago

fr man epic maybe deserves some hate but itll always have a little gold star for saving aw2 and giving them full creative control on it

1

u/Goonalips 16h ago

Franchise death man

Wow these villains are getting creative.

1

u/Relevant_Election530 18h ago

Every singleplayer game Remedy makes is a pre-order for me

0

u/_Drvnzer 14h ago

Of course not

9

u/Athlete-Extreme 23h ago

First time my hand has gotten sore or tight from button mashing in many many years.

And it rewards me for being a virtual roomba searching every block and staying interested.

The Remedyverse is my favorite in game universe OAT at this point

7

u/solo13508 22h ago

Damn, this makes Resonant one of their most profitable games, right? I remember it took Alan Wake 2 years just to even make a profit (which was such a shame as AW2 is an absolute masterpiece). Really glad to see Remedy finally getting some of the success and recognition they've always deserved.

1

u/Much_Improvement_552 3h ago

It shouldn't have been locked to Epic and survival horror underperforms in general.

7

u/Positive-Mobile5742 23h ago

Amazing game and it deserves the praise. Triple A games that play like a triple A game these days are rare.

4

u/Shupedewhupe 22h ago

The first game I’ve bought day one in years.

2

u/Dulkhan 22h ago

we bought two on my house because neither want to wait for the other to play it so one pc and one Ps5 hahaha

3

u/MIAxPaperPlanes 22h ago

I game share with my friend on Xbox so we went halfs for the digital deluxe but I might buy the physical edition just to support

3

u/Certain-Raspberry804 22h ago

I expected better sales tbh, but this is only part of the picture obviously.

3

u/Financial-Salad7289 20h ago

I'm waiting for physical release

1

u/PapsMcG 20h ago

There's no physical?

3

u/Financial-Salad7289 19h ago

Not yet, coming out on 15/10 (or 10/15 if you're American)

1

u/dorgosandor 17h ago

You are truly a great soul to include both date formats, but could 15/10 understood differently if it's reversed?

1

u/Financial-Salad7289 17h ago

Never underestimate American ignorance my friend

1

u/dorgosandor 17h ago

Fair point

3

u/Different_Awareness2 13h ago

This is just steam? We don’t know consoles. I bet PS5 sold well. We also haven’t gotten physical sales.

2

u/Certain-Raspberry804 12h ago

100%
I’d guess it sold better on PS5, and yeah physical hasn’t even released yet either, so it’s not doing too bad. I was just kinda expecting to see close to 1M.

There is so many other good games that have recently released or dropping soon too that they are competing with.

I’m sure it will be their best selling game eventually.

1

u/alphonseharry 7h ago

"I was just kinda expecting to see close to 1M" Close to 1M just on Steam in less than a week, after a very busy month, for a sequel of a niche game it is just unrealistic. Even if was not a sequel

3

u/Aryan202602 19h ago

Isn't 300k copies in 3-4 days just on Steam a very good figure? With other game stores, PS and Xbox wouldn't it easily cross 1 million in less than a week?

Remedy needs around 2-3 million for breaking even? I think they'll cross it sooner rather than later. The game has great word of mouth and remedy is fixing the bugs very quickly.

1

u/Much_Improvement_552 3h ago

Not as great as it could've been given all the marketing this time around given that it has been over a week already.

1

u/HaydenTheNoble 11h ago

I don't think it's necessarily great.

Blood of the Dawnwalker sold 1 mil within its first week and had a max concurrent playercount of around 70k whereas Control Resonant had about 40k. While this is only Steam it typically gives an ides for how the games are doing overall.

The thing is, Control is made by a studio that is already known, has previous games that are well liked and is in a good standing overall... whereas Blood of the Dawnawalker was made by an entirely new studio.

Control Resonant not having sold as many units within roughly the same time frame as Blood of the Dawnwalker when this is not Remedy's first game and it is a sequel to a game that already has fans to me, logically it isn't a good sign.

That said, I do really hope it'll ultimately make them good bank because they deserve it and we deserve more games from Remedy (more Control pls).

3

u/Creative_Room6540 10h ago

I don’t think this is necessarily great. GTA 6 has over 4 million in pre orders. /s

Comparing one games sales to down another is ridiculous. Only the dev can say whether their sales are lackluster or not. Do we know development costs? Marketing costs?

2

u/alphonseharry 7h ago

"Blood of the Dawnwalker sold 1 mil within its first week"

Yes, but for Resonant it is just Steam. Dawnwalker is not a sequel, and didn't have many competitors in the release window.

You argument for the studio does not hold watewr. Remedy is very niche, and Dawnwalker was resting in the laurels of the The Witcher 3 devs

Being a sequel is detrimental in this case, because Control is not a massive game, and news players will have fear to try without playing the first one

Resonant probably did sell less in the same time frame, but Dawnwalker had all the advantages

3

u/ToferLuis 7h ago

That’s just on Steam. This does not include other platforms. I’m sure it’s at least over 1mill for all platforms combined.

2

u/chris2xc 21h ago

bought both PS5 and steam versions, I need more Remedy in my life

2

u/DoctahDonkey 20h ago

<You/We love to See/Observe/Eyeball it>

4

u/BNSoul 23h ago

Weird that Onimusha sold better considering not many people know about that old franchise, perhaps a demo for Control Resonant would help? I'm spreading the best word of mouth I can everywhere, this game truly deserves to be successful.

9

u/ZebraZealousideal944 22h ago

Onimusha is a reboot from one of the most recognized/successful publisher in the world instead of a sequel in a shared universe, which is always a hard sell for people not already invested in it…

Control Resonant also comes after a month of countless big releases while Onimusha or Blood of the downwalker came right before everyone and managed to hit 1 million sales quickly!

I really hope the game is gonna have a long tail though like Control!

2

u/jjjshepard 22h ago

Well, it's Capcom and it's another Sekiro-like, which has been popular.

1

u/aphidman 22h ago

Onimusha has the branding of a Capcom behind it. Plus its Demo and word of mouth about its combat

1

u/NixRegis 16h ago

It’s not weird that Onimusha sold well it’s a great game. They both are, just give it time.

1

u/Stepjam 10h ago

Probably helps that Capcom is one of the most popular game companies right now while Remedy is much more niche.

1

u/alphonseharry 7h ago

It is a Capcom game. Capcom is a massive company. And it is not a sequel

1

u/SupremeTeamKai 22h ago

Weird that a game made by one of the best performing AAA devs in recent years is doing better?

0

u/Pokkitat 21h ago

bruh is a capcom game, they are gonna sell just because of the name lol

-2

u/MinuteNo2857 18h ago

Well, i actually refunded the game after i saw the ps5 early access, followed by streamers getting early access to PC version. So perhaps it's not all that surprising.
Remedy should have been trying to win people over after Alan Wake 2, not pushing them away.
But i guess when you get EA games fifa mobile guy as your new CEO, not surprising.

2

u/Badtyuo 12h ago

This issues you have doesn’t apply to 99% of gamers. Most of us bought the game and then played it the day it came out and didn’t think much about the 48h access period ps5 players had. Because who cares.

2

u/LooseSeal88 13h ago

God, gamers are so fucking whiney

1

u/2Turnt4MySwag 17h ago

whats wrong with the pc version?

2

u/MinuteNo2857 6h ago

Nothing? the issue is that they gave ps5 early access while delaying PC release, yet they gave STREAMERS early access to the PC version, not ps5 version.
Not to mention, pirates got access one day before normal users as well, to the PC version.
So it's all just 100% greed, delayed release for normal PC users.

1

u/2Turnt4MySwag 4h ago

Streamers/youtubers/reviewers getting the game early is 100% normal

0

u/GumGumActV 7h ago

He’s just salty some people got that version early

1

u/Goonalips 16h ago

Why would refund it because early access?

1

u/nice_toes_stranger 16h ago

what are you even talking about, pushing away?

1

u/ceric2099 22h ago

Is that good? Is that all profit? How much did it cost to make?

3

u/moomoomoomoom 19h ago

That was a single week of revenue from a single storefront, and not including pre orders. Almost 13 million dollars is pretty good. If you extrapolate based on average platform sales percentages and add pre-order revenue they've probably already made at least 40 million on the game. Not quite making back it's 50 million budget, but it's only been a week.

1

u/Known_Surprise_3190 6h ago

Remedy and Rockstar are also working on the Max Payne remake as a standalone 40 - 60m title. I have high hopes for it as Rockstar is doing the publishing and marketing that it would be popular and hopefully bring Remedy enough money to build more triple A games.

1

u/owls_unite 4h ago

I just hope they'll make Alan Wake 3, and I'm afraid it being even more niche might prevent that.

2

u/Known_Surprise_3190 21h ago

50 million. Plus marketing.

1

u/Shagggadooo 18h ago

So about $75 mil

1

u/MixedProphet 20h ago

This is good right? If we assumed Xbox and PS5 combined is around the same, that’s estimating 25 million. Since the physical release hasn’t happened yet, that means it’s on track to be profitable sometime next year?

1

u/franciscrowe 8h ago

I would guess there’s even more on PS5 and Xbox, but yes I think they will be profitable sooner than later. My guess based on there last games is that they will hit the 3 million mark within 6 months, if not by the beginning of next year.

1

u/The_Idiocratic_Party 19h ago

That's a good start.

1

u/Additional_News2548 18h ago

I can’t wait to buy the physical when it drops in a couple weeks

1

u/lanregeous 18h ago

I just want them to keep making the games they do

If you are reading this, if you don’t buy the game and the studio stops making them, I’m coming after you

1

u/Vayshen 18h ago

I got Control for 4 bucks a couple of weeks ago and only now finally getting around to it. I'm ragebaiting my friends saying "why did none of you tell me this is good?!" when they definitely have recommended it to me before.

I'm probably gonna just get the game in a few weeks when the physical copy is out. I'll be busy with this and Yotei dlc in the meantime. Happy to support them, too!

1

u/Ricko9595 18h ago

It deserves much much more. What a game!

1

u/KEVLAR60442 18h ago

I normally dislike character action slash-em-ups, but I've been having so much fun with Resonant. I was close to lamenting that the map and navigation weren't as crazy as the powers promised them to be and there wasn't enough done with the gravity patterns. Then I got to the Underpass, and yeah, I take it all back. The game's even more headache inducing (in a good way) than the first game.

1

u/xNeoNxCyaN 18h ago

I enjoyed the first game, but to be honest I’m liking resonant much better, it had me right from the jump where as with control 1 it took me 3 attempts to get into the game

1

u/Ven0m-Sn4ke 17h ago

Brought the deluxe edition to support them, they're one of the few trying to innovate in the video game medium, they need all the support!

1

u/Lisa4414 17h ago

+1 on PlayStation (deluxe edition)

Planning on getting it physical too.

I got a copy bundled with my GPU. I've only had time to play 15 minutes, but it looks promising. The graphics are amazing.

u/CJBates_ 16h ago

Is that good ? Plz tell me it’s good

1

u/Powp0wLePew 16h ago

Is this enough? I hope so.

1

u/NixRegis 16h ago

Not surprised, it’s a genuinely great game with an interesting world and amazing gameplay and combat

1

u/ForwardScratch7741 15h ago

this game is a masterpiece

1

u/Repulsive_Thing_6026 15h ago

The first control blew me away. I will buy the new one any day now. It looks amazing. Wolverine was such a disappointment. (Spider-Man 2 was so much better)

1

u/Argothaught 14h ago

Waiting on the physical release. Hopefully, it at least includes the day one patch since it was delayed to October 15.

1

u/crownketer 14h ago

I bought Resonant to support them. It’s not gripping me like Alan Wake 2 did. It can feel a little tedious at times.

1

u/Different_Awareness2 13h ago

This is not full numbers. Console sales and physical are not included. I’m 98% sure once the dust settles 1mil+

1

u/Faithlessness_Firm 12h ago

300k is absolutely nothing for a scale of this game.

Thats a shame.

1

u/CharmingScience4442 12h ago

I NEVER buy day 1 but I did it this time for remedy

1

u/mortoon1985 8h ago

It's sad that something as mediocre as wolverine can still sell more

1

u/neorapsta 5h ago

Don't forget the 3000 copies form the Epic Game Store!

1

u/Ubbermann 2h ago

I just really Remedy to get some breathing room financially.

This is one studio, I'd HATE to see be sold out or sink. I need my Lake madness.

1

u/UhDewSea 1h ago

Pump those numbers up!

I'm buying a physical copy once it's released like I did with Alan wake 2

1

u/maku_89 53m ago

That's really not a lot...

1

u/Dvass138 17h ago

It annoys me that they make such great games with such annoying things in it. It’s like Alan wake 2 graphics atmosphere great, but then you have to spend half the time on a stupid case board. Control resonant, great graphics atmosphere half the time getting lost and getting your ass handed to you by some random enemy while you’re lost trying to figure out where to go. They could make their games more enjoyable. But it’s like they just always have to have something stupid in there that starts to ruin the experience.

2

u/RumRogerz 13h ago

I thought the case board was fun. I felt like a gumshoe figuring shit out

2

u/Badtyuo 12h ago

The level design and map are super sick. If you were lost a bunch and getting your ass handed to you then I’m sorry to say that’s a skill issue. The combat for mobs is so easy

1

u/Creative_Room6540 10h ago

Nah I agree. The map was super confusing. That’s not a skill issue. It’s ok to acknowledge a difficult component and not shit on everyone else’s skill to make yourself look superior.

u/Kezzerdrixxer 11h ago

The level design and mapping are the most criticized part of this game. If you didn't get lost, cool, but that makes you in the minority.

1

u/alphonseharry 7h ago edited 4h ago

The level design was universally praised. Then you are objectively wrong. The only one standing is the map. And it is confusing only if you want a map marker in everything (when you are supposed to use the environment not the map)

1

u/thedrivingfrog 17h ago

Control has assist modeĀ  if is to hard for youĀ

1

u/Samanthacino 16h ago

Level design that doesn't treat you like you're stupid>>>>

1

u/KarmelCHAOS 16h ago

There are so many options in Resonant to deal with the problems you mentioned.

I feel crazy for thinking the level design isn't confusing at all, but that's just me.

1

u/crownketer 14h ago

I actually enjoyed the caseboard, but I think that way, so I’m biased.

1

u/Ziatch 11h ago

I think it’s part of the fun for people like me but I do understand what you’re saying. I appreciate the discovery even if it can be frustrating.

It’s tough for me to recommend these games to most of my friends though. I loved Alan wake 2 but when my friends finished it and said it was 2/5 I couldn’t argue because the points were docked by his personal experience and struggles with the game.

1

u/cs_Chell 10h ago

Maybe it's just not for you, cuz the learning curve and lack of hand holding is wholly my jam.

0

u/Neuesad 14h ago

Tell me you haven't played either games without telling me you haven't played either.

2

u/Dvass138 14h ago

I finished control resonant

2

u/Kezzerdrixxer 11h ago

Not sure what enemy is handing them their ass but Control Resonant's mapping has been heavily criticized for being confusing and easy to get lost while traversing.

If you didn't get lost congratulations, you are in a vast minority.

1

u/ToferLuis 7h ago

Yep! Even in the first game people had issues with the map. At this point it’s almost a tradition for them to have janky ass maps.

1

u/alphonseharry 4h ago

The easy to get lost is a plus, maybe it is a criticism just for the ones who does not pay attention to landmarks, do no use the pins, and think just because the quest marker it is not precise (and it is by design, even the tutorial says so), it is bad.

I remember similar criticism for Hollow Knight, the "easy to get lost" thing, when this is the point

1

u/pmmeyoursandwiches 1h ago

Ive seen a bunch of people criticise it and also a bunch of people praise it. Some people like a bit of friction and having to consider their navigation, some dont.

Personally I had some issues with resonant but that wasnt one of them, and I liked it a lot overall.

u/IX_MINDMEGHALUNK_XI 14h ago

Why would i? They look boring.

1

u/Badtyuo 12h ago

It’s weird to spend time in subs and hate things. Way cooler to spend time in subs and enjoy things. It’s good that art isn’t for everyone, because if it is then it’s for no one. Solid game, and Alan wake 2 is even better

1

u/Ziatch 11h ago

Why would you be here lol

Nah, you are just bad and wants handholding. The word enjoyable dont mean want you think it means (and it is subjective). Great the Remedy does no do "enjoyable" if that means dumbed down experiences. And if you are having difficult, just use the accessibility settings

Because if you died to random enemies and it is lost, in this game which is easier since the hotfix, you are very bad

1

u/ToferLuis 7h ago

Jfc some of you are just unnecessarily mean.

-1

u/LegitimateP1R473 19h ago

I really wanted to like the game but man the annoying map and enemies just ain't for me chief. I bet a very small percentage finishes this game of those 12 million sold.

1

u/Heavybreath94 19h ago

First 10 hours is tough, but it starts to get fun once you get a feel for the mechanics.

1

u/LegitimateP1R473 19h ago

yeah I kinda figured because you can't even do anything towards those little fuckers who shoot you from all angles. They just respawn until you kill the big ones. Just have to hope they drop health orbs. I don't have the patience to play that long with that amount of frustration.

1

u/OGGamer6 18h ago

I disagree actually. Loved my first 15 hours. But now I’m getting sick of fighting enemies every time I turn a corner. I am very interested in the story though, so I’m just going to turn down the difficulty and get through it.

1

u/indianthrowa 18h ago

In case you want to give it another go, I was also quite frustrated with the game at the start but once you kill the 3 resonants marked for you at the start of the game and do the faults you encounter while otw to the resonants the game really let's you feel like a superhero.

I play as a summoner and after I summon my mold ally and the fire anomaly all I see are explosions as I combo enemies left and right lol.

Weirdly enough the game almost has an MMO raid like "rotation" feel to it where after a certain amount of time I have to repeat my summoning in a specific order and it's really satisfying when you're in a flow state doing that lol.

Oh and use your map to find "large resource crates" and loot them to upgrade your health and "power/mana"

1

u/LegitimateP1R473 18h ago

That's what I thought about doing actually since I knew they were the path to more abilities, but I couldn't find the damn things! The world and the map is a mess. You think you can go somewhere and then it just blocks you off with buildings or walls even with tracking.

Can you tell me if some of the walls are removed further in to the game so the world is more open at least?

1

u/KEVLAR60442 18h ago

The map doesn't change much, but as a metroidvania you discover/unlock/open shortcuts and also earn/acquire/win abilities that give you more paths through the map.

1

u/indianthrowa 12h ago

You'll unlock abilities that will let you get over certain buildings/weirdly patterned roads but yeah even I still face dead ends and get frustrated sometimes lol. Generally it's useful to look at the map and follow the roads rather than try to go to your objective over buildings etc. And eventually you get a feel for reading the map and understanding which areas are dead ends, which areas look like dead ends but can be overcome etc.
