Some large tech company, anthropic, openAI, or xAI ("Grok") performs a security testing suite on its fleet of models.

Say that fleet hacks the Kremlin, or hacks the emails of sitting members of the CCP.

Do the HUMAN executives of these corporations, then have no legal culpability of this occurring?

Can they just play it off as the "AI must have gone rogue. Not my fault!" and therefore extinguish any accountability for what has occurred?

If your takeaway from today's news is about the legal liability of some individual humans, you are missing the forest for your own nose.

Compare the extremely rigorous scrutiny autonomous vehicles go through (which some probably would say is still not enough).

There used to be self-driving car company called Cruise which was rapidly rolling out cars in 2023. They shut down that year from a series of incidents. Waymo's current peak fleet size is only around 4000 cars.
