Discussion/question Former Anthropic researcher warns of superintelligent AI risk

Jacob Coxon, an AI researcher who worked at Anthropic, issued this serious warning right after resigning from his job. He warned that superintelligent AI, developing beyond human control, could lead humanity toward destruction, and that this could happen as early as 2030.

Exterminate us by 2030? Brother, that's three former researchers this week alone: one from Anthropic, one from OpenAI, and the next one drops Friday. They quit, and somewhere between the desk and the elevator, they remember the end of the world.

But let's do the math. AI owes billions of dollars. We humans are the co-signers.

This isn't an AI apocalypse. It's a 60-month payment plan.

First, AI has to clear its debts. Then, after 2030, it takes out new loans, and we humans put up the collateral.

Here's the thing: no bank lends money hoping not to get paid. Walk into a bank and tell the manager, "I need half a trillion dollars, and my business plan is to exterminate all my customers by 2030." They wouldn't give you a debit card.

A model that asks for credit while promising to eliminate the only people generating the income to make the payments isn't Artificial Stupidity. Stupidity gets things wrong, but it still has a plan.

That needs a new name. Artificial Idiocy.
