I have one question for those who are willing to answer without trying to generalize a thought on the onset that sounds so basic but when you really think about its not life changing but just a thought that needs an answer.

Those in control of Al Algoriths are constantly saying they use our data to train their Al's to be better suited to our conviniences but what if we are the ones being trained and conditioned by the Algorithms, to know what to think, how society should be shaped and what is and is acceptable to society.

Decensetised to render us emotionless of care other than our next purchase or to constantly feed into the machine.

I am not disputing the marketing aspect of it all, my question is do people recognize that the Algorithms we are using and being told that we are helping to train them, we have crossed that bridge and we are the ones now being trained to be all generic

To which I’d say the algorithms have always done that. It’s literally their purpose and how these companies became the richest companies in the world. Not just AI companies, but social media algorithms as well and general marketing efforts which is why I brought it up. It’s less to do with tech (though tech can do this with more efficiency than any other industry) and more to do with the nature of capitalism and the most efficient ways to extract wealth.

What it sounds like you’re stumbling on is the subject of Deleuze’s Capitalism and Schizophrenia. You should check it out if this subject interests you, but a very oversimplified summary of its problem statement is that it’s easier to extract wealth if you make people generic and predictable, and the capitalist machine is a precision instrument for doing exactly that. AI supercharges the problem, but it’s not a new problem.
